Sessional Faculty
Alberta University of the Arts (AUArts) invites applications for Sessional Instructors to teach in its broad variety of subject areas. While applicants from all relevant disciplines are welcome, applicants with expertise in the fields of Art History and Jewellery and Metals are especially encouraged to apply.
The Alberta University of the Arts is one of only four major art, craft and design focused Universities in Canada. Our internationally recognized programs and state-of-the-art facilities offer our 1,100 students a hands-on, studio-based education that leads to a Bachelor of Fine Arts, a Bachelor of Design, and an MFA in Craft Media. AUArts has deep roots in Calgary’s creative community and our alumni have had an impact on creativity around the world. Alberta University of the Arts will be celebrating its centennial in 2026.
Sessional appointments are intended to augment and supplement instruction and programming and/or the pedagogical and/or research needs of the University beyond that which is provided by permanent faculty appointments. Successful candidates will be offered an engagement letter, which is not a contract for specific course instruction but a confirmation of eligibility for assignment of courses. A separate contract will be issued for the specific course(s) as they are offered. Sessional Instructors’ names will be retained on our Sessional Instructor list for the duration of their engagement letter, after which time it is required they reapply.
