We are looking for one (1) Supervisor to join our George Wood Learning Centre Program!
Position Summary:
The Learning Centre Supervisor plays a vital leadership role in supporting the well-being and development of up to 60 children and youth (ages 6 to 17) across two campuses who experience diverse mental health and behavioral challenges. This position is responsible for the direct supervision of eight School Support Counselors and ensures that youth receive consistent, compassionate, and structured care throughout the school day.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Therapeutic Campus Based Care (TCBC), the Supervisor works in close collaboration with a Calgary Board of Education (CBE) to support the day-to-day operations and coordination of the school environment. The Supervisor ensures that staffing levels, routines, and interventions are responsive to youth needs and aligned with treatment plans developed in partnership with clinical and live in care teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct supervision, guidance, and ongoing development to a team of School Support Counselors.
Maintain oversight of day-to-day operations within the school milieu to ensure safety, consistency, and therapeutic integrity.
Provide weekly supervision, staff training, evaluation, recruitment, and disciplinary action necessary within the guidelines set by Senior Management to all program staff.
Ensures that approved clinical case management and record keeping procedures are practiced according to Wood’s quality improvement guidelines.
Regularly reviews all treatment interventions and case management used in the provision of treatment.
Assumes responsibility for the development, review, and adherence of the program budget
Collaborate daily with the CBE to address school-wide needs, programming coordination, scheduling, and crisis management.
Monitor youth behavior and progress, ensuring integration and implementation of clinical treatment plans into daily practice.
Partner with TCBC clinical teams and Program Supervisors to ensure cohesive, trauma-informed, and youth-centered support across settings.
Participate in and share on-call duties, providing leadership and support across TCBC programs as required.
Lead team meetings, attend interdisciplinary case conferences, and ensure documentation and communication standards are met.
Actively contributes to the development of a therapeutic learning environment that promotes regulation, relational safety, and academic success.
Support the overall functioning of the school milieu, identifying and responding to evolving needs and ensuring professional standards of care.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, child and youth care, education, or a related field.(Graduate preferred).
Full class 5 driver’s license or class 5 GDL driver’s license with $2 million liability insurance.
Drivers Abstract with no more than 6 demerits.
Experience working with young people and families.
Experience with supervising and managing staff.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with children and adolescents with complex behavioral and mental health needs, with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role.
Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and support a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic, trauma-informed environment.
Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, therapeutic crisis intervention, and collaborative care models.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with educational partners and interdisciplinary professionals.
Flexibility to respond to crises and participate in on-call rotations.
