Position Title: Individual Pricing and Finance Vice President
Reports To: Executive Vice President, Individual Insurance
Department: Individual
Term: Permanent Full-Time
Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

We are looking for an Individual Pricing and Finance Vice-President to lead the Actuarial and Finance functions of our Individual Insurance division. This role will play a central role in driving the growth and profitability of these functions.

What you will be doing:
Participating with other senior leaders in setting the vision, strategies and priorities for the division in alignment with corporate goals and objectives.
Directing the development of financial plans for the division to operationalize strategic goals, overseeing the monitoring and reporting results, explaining changes in performance and taking or recommending corrective action.
Supporting product development, in partnership with the AVP of Marketing, with a specific focus on ensuring growth strategies will be profitable and that risks are identified and managed.
Overseeing product pricing, reinsurance arrangements, dividend scale reviews, and compensation arrangements for all levels of distribution (internal and external), and monitoring their execution to achieve growth and profitability goals.
Providing direction to the Individual Insurance leadership team with respect to opportunities and challenges in attainment of the financial plan.
Overseeing production team responsible for large case quotes (not handled by the illustration software), exception requests and other underwriting and distribution support from the actuarial team.
Participating as a member of the Actuarial Student Executive Committee which oversees the actuarial student program and the actuarial community.
Developing internal and external relationships to stay on top of trends in markets, products, distribution, accounting and tax, capital, investments, actuarial standards and practices, etc. so that actions can be taken proactively
Sponsor and / or participate on IT steering committees for product, operational or financial projects where Actuarial or Finance are stakeholders.
Developing and leading an Actuarial and Finance organization to deliver on this mandate.
Leading a team of data scientists and data analysts in developing predictive modeling to increase productivity in underwriting and operations and developing dashboards to support oversight of the business unit’s key performance and productivity metrics.
What you will bring:
FSA, FCIA
At least 15 years insurance experience, including at least five years in Individual Insurance and at least five years in a leadership role
Strategic vision with the ability to execute
Impeccable judgement and ability to make sound decisions in a fast paced, dynamic setting
Advanced knowledge of the individual life and health insurance business including product design, pricing and valuation methodologies and assumptions, asset-liability management techniques, financial reporting standards, regulatory capital requirements, policyholder taxation and sales/marketing concepts for family and advanced markets
Knowledge of AXIS software
Ability to coach and mentor AVP and director level staff (actuaries and accountants) in both their professional and leadership development
Advanced skills in negotiation, influencing, and relationship-building
Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to handle high-level executive and client interactions
Strong planning, project management and organization skills
Demonstrated ability to interact with team members of different disciplines including distribution, marketing, IT and Administration.
