The Role
Our Mitchell Plastics Kitchener facility is looking for two Maintenance Automation Technicians immediately to support our Night shift. The Incumbent of this role is a key player in keeping our Production and Maintenance Teams running efficiently, while ensuring we are able to meet customer requirements in a fast-paced, “just-in-time” environment. Cooperation with the Process Engineering, Production and Maintenance Teams is essential for this position. While this is a straight Night Shift role at this time, Candidates must be flexible to work any/all shifts, daily/weekend overtime as required plus rotating on-call duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
Identify safety concerns and repair unsafe conditions.
Maintain assembly machines and equipment per established PM schedules. Suggest improvements to PM schedules (frequency and content) as applicable.
Respond promptly to breakdowns and maintain process uptime through troubleshooting and repairs.
Be actively involved in continuous improvement activities. Communicate opportunities for improvement through the appropriate channels.
Document issues and repairs using the appropriate systems and forms.
Support production equipment start-up and change-over as required.
Assist in new equipment commissioning and start-up.
Any other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Diploma in Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology – Automation & Robotics – or commensurate experience
Working knowledge & experience with PLC-based equipment & machine logic
Experience troubleshooting and repairing assembly equipment
Ability to troubleshoot pneumatic, electric and mechanical equipment
Ability to select and install sensors and other machine components
Knowledge of and ability to use machining tools and equipment including powered & hand-held tools
Ability to read, understand and update electrical, pneumatic and mechanical drawings for assembly machines and equipment
Thorough understanding of machine guarding and other safety requirements
While not mandatory, preference will be given to those with:
Experience programming OMRON PLCs
Working knowledge & experience installing & troubleshooting vision cameras/sensors
Ability & willingness to complete Millwright Apprenticeship/Red Seal Certification
