The KBA Maintenance Team is currently seeking Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician.Job DescriptionThe Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician is responsible for the coordination, maintenance, inspection, and operational readiness of all ground support equipment, deployment-specific kits, hangar tooling, facility equipment, and company vehicles. This position plays a critical role in ensuring equipment is available, safe, and fit for use in supporting aircraft operations and departures. The role involves hands-on equipment handling, logistical planning, and collaboration with multiple departments.Major Responsibilities of the Role:Aircraft Ground Support Equipment (GSE)Receive, inspect, and document all ground support equipment based on aircraft arrival schedules and equipment checklistsIdentify, report, and arrange replacement or repair of missing or defective equipmentMaintain and test refueling kits, including pump operation, filter servicing, hose and seal condition, and leak testingInspect and confirm completeness of survival kits and verify expiry dates of food itemsReplenish and inspect “Aircraft Refueling Kits” as per checklistInspect and, if needed, repair aircraft electrical cordsMaintain readiness of portable generators, camp gear, sleeping bags, and oxygen kitsVerify availability and condition of specialized equipment such as oxygen adaptersPre-Departure CoordinationPrepare upcoming aircraft departures and ensure related equipment is prepared in advanceInspecting all equipment, kits, and supplies according to mission or contract requirementsEnsure equipment checklists are completed, verifying equipment available, for each flight and support aircraft crew as neededAssist the operations team to stage extra cargo or unique load items in designated areasMaintain a system for tracking deployment-specific itemsAssist with aircraft loading when requiredFacility Equipment MaintenanceConduct routine inspections of hangar equipment including aircraft jacks, work stands, and lifting devicesInspect and service shop equipment such as forklifts, loaders, and skid steers as neededSupport general upkeep and safe functioning of all operational spacesTooling and Equipment OversightMaintain detailed inventory and inspection records for all non-calibrated tooling and ground support equipmentConduct scheduled inspections and maintenance for all ground tools and deployment gearArrange repair or servicing of GSE tools (non-calibrated) either in-house or through approved vendorsEnsure equipment such as jacks, work platforms, and lifting gear is available and safe to useCompany Vehicle OversightCoordinate vehicle maintenance scheduling with Flight Operations and Maintenance AdministratorsPerform basic maintenance tasks (e.g., fluid checks, tire pressure, etc.)Ensure vehicles and heavy equipment are clean, roadworthy, and properly documentedOther DutiesOperate equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, and loaders after completing company training and obtaining an AVOPAssist with special operational projects or logistics as assignedMaintain clear and accurate documentation for audits, tracking, and internal reviews QualificationsValid Class 5 driver’s license (or equivalent) and a clean driver’s abstractMust be insurable to operate company vehiclesEligible to obtain a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC)Eligible to obtain an Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit (AVOP)Able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screeningComfortable operating heavy equipment after trainingStrong attention to detail and organizational skills Previous experience working with ground support equipment or in an aviation environment would be an asset1-2 years of technical experience with tools or maintenance-related work would be an advantageAdditional InformationKenn Borek Air offers a comprehensive employment package containing competitive wages, an excellent company-funded benefits program, a wellness flexible spending account, and an RRSP matching program.
