About the Role
Corus is looking for a Full Time Chief Broadcast Engineer to join our Technology Team in Calgary, Alberta. Reporting to and working closely with the Tech Services Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining all technical broadcast-related processes for all Calgary radio stations and transmitter sites. This role requires you to have the flexibility to accommodate shift work and rotating on call for emergencies.
You will contribute by:
Troubleshoot, maintain and repair of all types of broadcast equipment in a state-of-the-art Radio facility, including Control Room and Studio equipment, Servers, Workstations, Automation Systems, Edit Systems, and Routers
Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair RF and transmission systems, AM and FM transmitters
Implement and document temporary and permanent installations to meet the technical requirements of Radio content creation and distribution
Participate in equipment purchasing or system design recommendations
Assist in developing CAPEX and OPEX budgets
Provide Business / Broadcast IT/Network systems support
Provide technical support for staff including technical requirements for remote broadcasts
Coordinate with other departments (local and nationally) for projects, initiatives, and support
Document and communicate issues and fixes to all stakeholders
Work closely with Radio Operations to maintain a consistent and high-quality product
Train, mentor, and supervise local broadcast technicians.
Skills and experience you will bring:
Recent applicable and direct radio engineering experience in the role of a Broadcast Engineer
A degree or diploma and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field of Electronics, Computer Technology, Engineering or Broadcast Systems Technology
The ability to troubleshoot Broadcast Electronics Systems
Working knowledge of analog, digital and Audio Over IP (AOIP) signals and their integration into Broadcast Systems
Working knowledge of Wheatstone, Wide Orbit, Music Master, and Burli systems.
Strong technical aptitude and skills required
Proficiency in Microsoft Visio and Excel an asset
Deep working knowledge and experience with radio technical equipment and processes, with special considerations to AM transmitters site maintenance and repairs.
Desire to grow within the industry and learn about new trends and standards
Ability to easily multitask and shift primary focus in response to changing needs
Passionate about working in the Broadcasting or technical industry
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
