Position: Pharmacy Assistant
Part-time, Temporary: 24 - 36 hours per week.
Availability: Weekdays and weekends- mornings, afternoons, and evenings.
Responsibilities:
Greet patients and respond to patient questions
Assist the Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician in counting, preparing, and pricing of prescriptions
Prepare, maintain, organize dosettes and create compounds as required
Order and maintain inventory of drugs, chemicals, or other controlled substances
Ensure proper receiving procedures are followed in relation to receiving of OTC, RX, and narcotics
Ensure proper inventory levels are maintained for all prescription products and damaged or outdated merchandise is handled properly
Maintain accurate patient records
Adhere to established laws, regulations, and standards including the Health Information Act, Pharmacy and Drug Act, Health Professions Act, and all other regulations that govern the Pharmacy
Maintain a high degree of discretion and professionalism
Other duties as assigned by the manager
Qualifications:
Completion of grade 12 or equivalent
Formal education from a pharmacy-related program combined with previous experience and familiarity with pharmaceutical products is preferred
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; some heavy lifting is required
