JOB SUMMARY:
Provide guidance and front-line coordination to production workers (1-15) and
tend to machines designed to process materials according to exacting standards
of work orders. Acts as point-of-contact for production area, ensures coworkers
are trained and following standards, and communicates issues to Maintenance
Technicians and Plant Manager. Standard work week 40 hours a week with
occasional overtime, no travel required. This role will work fully onsite out of
the plant location in Saskatoon, SK
What you will do:
- Assign daily work orders to operators and community quality specification
expectations at each change.
- Train and coach employees.
- Lead front line COS activities.
- Monitors production flow and makes changes throughout the day to maximize
productivity and efficiency.
- Assist Plant Manager in evaluating operators’ activities, performing
documented coaching and/or training necessary so workers meet the required
production standards including safety and quality.
- Works in various production areas, based on company need, making production
parts, documenting logs/reports, and/or entering data into work center
computer interface. Delegates any of these tasks to area workers as needed to
best meet safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Process production paperwork and communicate with production operators, and
Plant Manager for materials or product needed to fill production orders.
- Lead the production floor effort to reduce waste using COS, the SQDC boards,
and corrective action sheets.
- Conducts periodic cycle counts and physical inventories to maintain accurate
inventory levels.
- Leads special projects as needed and stands in as back up for operations
management during vacations/absences.
- Confer with Plant Manager on rotating people in/out of the area when there is
low/high product complexity that will create idle time or overburden
operators.
- Operate and perform basic troubleshooting of work cell machinery. Request
assistance from maintenance or Plant Manager as needed.
- Assures proper PPE is used per plant requirements. Conveys and enforces
company policies to employees and enforces safety regulations.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and make 5S improvements in the production area.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/ Skills/ Knowledge:
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
- 2-4 years prior experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
- Highly motivated with a good, sound work ethic.
- 2-4 years+ related experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Mechanical background is an asset.
- Must demonstrate safe working practices and possess great attention to
detail.
- Ability to follow Plast-fab/Carlisle Companies Incorporated policies,
procedures, and processes.
- Ability to lead and assist various departments within the production area.
- Good communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving
skills.
- Understanding and ability to apply construction math skills, including adding
and subtracting fractions, calculating board feet (BFT) and cubic feet (CF)
and basic geometry.
- Ability to use measuring devices (gauges, tapes, rulers) and to safely use
hand tools.
- Team player able to follow instructions from both management and peers.
- Ability to complete assigned tasks in fast-paced situations.
Working Conditions:
- Fast paced manufacturing environment where workers are exposed to both
ambient/outside temperatures and dust; working with mechanical parts and
pinch points; exposure to increased noise levels.
- Hours worked: 8-10 hours/shift, varies on shift schedule and business volume.
- Flexible to the possibility of overtime and weekend hours when required.
- Heavy, stationary machinery on manufacturing floor.

- Hand tools.
- Computer (Shop Floor and ERP).
