Job Summary:
We are seeking a strategic and customer-focused Key Account Manager to lead and grow relationships with major retail partners across Canada. This role is responsible for driving sales growth, managing account performance, and delivering exceptional service to national and regional retail chains. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in retail account management, a deep understanding of the grocery retail landscape, and a passion for the food industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Account Management
Serve as the primary contact for key retail accounts across Canada.
Build and maintain strong relationships with buyers, category managers, and supply chain teams.
Develop and execute joint business plans to drive mutual growth.
Sales & Strategy
Achieve sales targets, margin goals, and distribution objectives.
Analyze sales data and market trends to identify growth opportunities.
Collaborate with marketing and product teams to support promotions and launches.
Retail Execution
Ensure product availability, visibility, and compliance with planograms.
Coordinate with internal teams to manage inventory, logistics, and order fulfillment.
Monitor in-store performance and support merchandising initiatives.
Negotiation & Contracts
Lead pricing discussions, promotional planning, and contract negotiations.
Manage trade spend and ensure ROI on promotional investments.
Reporting & Forecasting
Maintain accurate records in CRM systems.
Provide regular forecasts, performance reports, and insights to senior leadership.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field.
5+ years of experience in retail account management, preferably in food or CPG.
Strong knowledge of Canadian retail channels (e.g., Loblaw, Sobeys, Metro, Walmart, Costco).
Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM tools.
Ability to travel as needed.
