Our Bus Fleet Maintenance & Engineering office are seeking 3 Bus Control Officers to Provide oversight and coordination of the daily operation of non-revenue buses at various Bus Services Facilities. Ensure buses are delivered in a clean, safe, efficient, economical, courteous, and timely manner and available for service.

Shift details : This role follows a continental shift schedule, which typically involves working 12-hour shifts for a set number of consecutive days, followed by an extended period of rest days. This schedule supports 24/7 operational coverage while offering employees predictable time off and work-life balance.

What will I be doing?
Assesses current operation, investigates, and makes recommendations for improvements to key stakeholders (e.g. BFM, Bus Operations, etc.)
Periodically reviews and provides oversight and guidance to wash bay employees, bus drivers and garage operations employees for the purpose of completing the required M7 entries and other MTO forms
Identifies and follows up on all service irregularities and reports discrepancies to Superintendent/Supervisor including recommendations for resolution
Plans and coordinates parking and bus movement for all buses on property or arriving on the property from various stakeholders (vendors, Bus Operations, etc.)
Effectively coordinates the staging of buses ready for service in partnership with key stakeholders (e.g. Bus Operations, NOC, etc.)
Provides bus availability information to key internal stakeholders (e.g. BFM and Bus Operations, Supervisors, Director, office staff, vendors, etc.)
Tracks and coordinates all out of service buses, both on property and moving off property to vendors, monitors return timelines, and follows up with BFM Supervisors and/or vendors to ensure that buses are returned to service in a timely manner
Plans and coordinates with Service Line team to ensure bus availability at all B Facilities
Provides reports to identify and track trends that can influence service levels
Captures and reports work not completed from the previous shift to BFM Superintendent/Supervisor to remedy
Reports deficiencies and any major service disruptions to expedite service recovery and minimize the impact service level
Attends and participates in meetings as required
Performs other duties as assigned
Liaises with Bus Operations, Bus Garage Operations, vendors, and other stakeholders, to obtain information, provide information and discuss and help resolve any operational issues
Assists Superintendent with response to stakeholder and customer complaints
Assists with the update of processes, procedures, and manuals to ensure alignment with department goals, corporate policies and objectives
Gather information to assist with recommendations for improvements
Extracts data/information from multiple sources to develop and produce statistical reports for leadership review
Drives continuous improvement in process with respect to which this position has ownership
Performs duties and responds to emergent issues with a sense of urgency
Operate autonomously and make effective and timely decisions with or without input
Participates in meeting bus flow objectives and activities within budgetary limits
Monitors bus flow progress to ensure that objectives are met on time, and that anticipated business results are achieved
Lead with accountability, respect, integrity, and urgency
Plan, facilitate and professionally coordinate bus movements
Retrieves, compiles, and inputs data into electronic tracking system, tracking costs to prepare status reports and updates for management.
Compiles data for use in the preparation of reports and/or annual budget preparation activities
Makes decisions that drive optimal bus utilization and usage
Effectively communicates with all levels of employees both orally and in writing to share information, including unpopular or contentious, or to respond to inquiries
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
Completion of a diploma in Business Administration, Transportation Management, or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
Minimum two (2) years’ related experience
G Driver’s License is required for travel from work location to other sites as required. Must meet and maintain the MX corporate standard for a good driving record.
Must be able and willing to upgrade license to CZ if required.
Knowledge of the Highway Traffic Act, related legislation, and licensing requirements would be assets
Knowledge of Lean Principles and experience in the bus industry would be assets
Customer service orientation focused to meet the needs of the public
Experience collaborating and building partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
Experience leading simultaneous activities to tight deadlines, monitoring activities for adherence to timelines, and performance objectives
Written communication skills and intermediate experience with computer applications (e.g. MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point) databases, tracking systems, and other application software, to prepare a variety of correspondence, documents or reports Standard office computer applications
Interpersonal skills and oral/written/presentation skills to maintain and update manuals
Shift work outside ordinary business hours 24x7x365 (e.g. evenings, weekends and holidays) to accommodate
