Your Opportunity:
The Senior Analyst, Rankings, reporting to Director, CRIS, plays a role in the University’s submissions to international ranking organizations. This position collaborates with various divisions across the University to promote a culture of strategic and data-driven decision-making that aligns with the University’s research strategy objectives.
The Analyst manages the collection, modelling, analysis, interpretation, reporting, and dissemination of international rankings to support the University’s institutional ranking and research strategy. The Analyst performs relevant analyses and interpretations of both institutional data and external sources, directly supporting performance rankings and other institutional priorities.
By way of engagement, collaboration and consultation, the Analyst builds a comprehensive and ongoing culture of institutional ranking data collection, analysis, management and dissemination and collaborates with data stewards and stakeholders to improve data structures and identify evolving needs.
Additionally, the Analyst performs research activities to seek insights, anticipating new areas where data is required, and determines the means and processes by which unavailable data can be collected and coordinates multiple concurrent data and analysis projects responding to institutional data needs, reporting at key points in the data life cycle.
The Analyst is involved in initiatives and activities that can influence strategic direction by providing insights, identifying trends, and making recommendations. The role requires operating within a complex environment that demands a high level of sensitivity, responsiveness, and strict confidentiality. This position is technically challenging and requires a thorough understanding of the principles of bibliometrics and ranking methodologies.
Essential Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
Graduate degree (Master’s or higher) in social sciences, statistics, data analytics, measurement or related field required; or combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in data collection, quantitative analysis, interpretation of data, report writing, and presentation with data visualizations. Demonstrated experience working with large data sets; gathering, analyzing and presenting data in professional and confidential manner using the most appropriate data gathering and analysis tools. Experience in higher education ranking surveys is highly desirable. Proven track record in designing, developing and implementing advanced analytics solutions in higher education or other related fields. Understanding of current trends and technologies to support reporting and analytics capabilities.
SKILLS:
- Knowledge of rankings methodologies, bibliometrics such as field-normalized citations.
- Knowledge of data governance principles and data management best practices.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis and research methods, spreadsheet, database, visualization, and presentation software.
- Strong skills in using spreadsheets, database and reporting systems, such as Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft Reporting Services and Tableau or similar data visualization tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data findings clearly and translate technical information for non-technical audiences.
OTHER:
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously while working collaboratively in a team environment. Ability to build and foster working relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
