JOB SUMMARY
The Retail Associate works in one of two main retail outlets at Grouse Mountain. The successful candidate is someone who is Guest Obsessed and has a passion for the outdoors. The Retail Associate will use our POS system to process sales, ensure the store is well stocked and visually appealing to our guests and actively engage with our guests to drive sales targets.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Sales and Customer Service:
Generate sales through guest engagement and determining customer needs
Drive sales through recommending customized solutions and maintaining industry product knowledge
Achieve and exceed sales targets
Process and cashier transactions using store POS software and equipment
Maintain current and in-depth knowledge of mountain services, promotions and policies
Participate in ongoing training and coaching initiatives
Store Operations:
Perform operational activities including; receiving and ticketing stock, inventory maintenance, store merchandising and store housekeeping
Conduct daily store operations and other related duties as assigned by management
Provide assistance to management during sales events, staff purchase nights and inventory count
If required, performing Key-holder responsibilities including Open/Close procedures on a rotational basis, with accountability for banking and security
Store Standards:
Ensure high standards of Visual Merchandising and cleanliness are maintained
Maintain a professional and well-presented persona suitable for the Tourism industry
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position reports directly to the Assistant Manager, Retail and does not require any direct supervisory responsibilities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES
Availability to work regular 6-8 hour shifts within store hours of 9am to 10pm most days
Successful completion of secondary school
Previous sales experience with emphasis on customer service
Proven sales and customer service skills
Ability to communicate well in English
Non-Residents must provide unrestricted Canadian Work Permit
The successful candidate will:
Show a strong focus on the customer, teamwork, accountability and innovation
Has an entrepreneurial attitude and hunger to drive sales results
Is comfortable working autonomously with little supervision in a fast-paced environment
Carries the professionalism to receive vocational feedback and take action when appropriate
Is energetic, friendly, confident and outgoing with a positive attitude
Has excellent organizational skills with basic ability in Microsoft Office suite
Experience in outdoor equipment sales an asset
WORKING CONDITIONS
Hours of Operation are weather dependant. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include a variety of start times, including shifts on weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts require standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting, and other forms of manual tasks.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$18.86 to $22.06/hour
