We are seeking a Credit Markets Intern to assist in investment research activities for our Credit mandates. The Corporate Bond Fund invests in bonds, convertible bonds, loans, preferred shares and other credit-related instruments denominated in USD or CAD. The Bond Universe Fund invests in Canadian and US issued Investment Grade bonds denominated in CAD and has exposure to higher yielding credit through an allocation to Corporate Bond Fund units. The Pender Credit Opportunities Fund invests in stressed and distressed credit securities. The Credit Markets Intern will support the management team of these mandates. It is anticipated that a portion of this work term will occur remotely. The successful candidate will help identify and evaluate investment opportunities, assist in various compliance and reporting activities, as well as support the team in research tasks, and portfolio maintenance.
Responsibilities will include:
Assist with the investment efforts for the Fund:
Research fundamental aspects of corporate bond issuers and write portions of proprietary research reports
Prepare and analyze portfolio reports related to the Corporate Bond Fund, Bond Universe Fund and the Credit Opportunities Fund
Participate in team meetings where investment decisions are made
Participate in research meetings involving interviews with issuer management and industry analysts
Take notes and report on meetings, quarterly earnings reports
Participate in operational activities involving post-trade settlement and record keeping
Participate in currency hedge operation

The successful candidate must have:
Strong interest in investment management,
Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant field of study
Excellent proficiency with MS Office and some familiarity with the Bloomberg terminal
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
A strong work ethic and capacity
Basic understanding of financial statements, and knowledge of factors that contribute to credit risk
