Job Description What is the opportunity? A new and exciting opportunity has arisen at RBC to join the RBC Canadian Banking – Product Control Team as Manager Product Control responsible for Credit Cards & Loyalty business. You will provide analytical support to the Canadian Banking Product Control area through the production of Profit and Loss (P&L) and the monthly reporting of associated products. You will ensure that the P&L reconciliation of source data is performed for all accounts under Product Control responsibility and is accurate and complete as well as production of P&L decompositions and estimates from source systems on a weekly basis. What will you do? Perform monthly P&L posting and accounting entries to the G/L and conduct regular reconciliations to ensure figures are properly tied back to the systems of records Perform P&L decomposition by using source system data and produce comparisons to reported P&L by measuring the impact of new deals, amendments, cancellations as well as changes in curves, rates, prices where applicable Provide P&L Analysis – commentary and breakdown for large movements in P&L Communication of Weekly, MTD and YTD results, compare P&L Estimate vs. Actual results – explain and log variances Ensure that the valuation of products is accurate, the methodology documented, and the booking thereof is correct in the general ledger Prepare Month-end Electronic Standard of Documentation as per policy Apply advanced quantitative, spreadsheet modelling and database management skills (Excel, Access, Datameer) to develop an enhanced process for P&L estimation and decomposition using data from source system Work closely with all members of the Product Control team, providing guidance and cross training Provide assistance to other reporting groups in fulfilling their reporting, disclosure and filing requirements, by filling out relevant templates and providing adequate back up Identify opportunities to improve and pro-actively streamline processes to improve productivity Maintain a solid knowledge base of how various products are handled by the source systems Provide information to satisfy audit requests from both internal and external auditors Develop an understanding of, and a solid relationship with RBC Canadian Banking operations and the functions of various business units across the firm What do you need to succeed? Must-have BA / BS or equivalent with emphasis in finance, economics or other quantitative discipline Minimum 3 years of experience in a sophisticated Finance environment with an understanding of retail banking products Strong analytical, problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills. Above average quantitative and PC skills an asset; Database, programming skills a plus Ability to work effectively and reliably under pressure Nice-to-have Working knowledge of database design concepts Experience relating to data analytics and visualization Continuous improvement and innovation mindset Ability to work independently with minimal guidance from manager Solid understanding of procedures and operational controls as they relate to Canadian Banking What’s in it for you?
