The CloudTune team within Amazon's Intelligent Cloud Control organization is
looking for a passionate, inventive, and influential technical leader to define
and drive technical development for SDO's scaling and infrastructure spend
planning software. Our primary goal is to invent new software systems that
remove human decision-making from SDO's scaling and cost controllership
processes. We envision CloudTune solutions driving end-to-end automation that
provisions Amazon's services appropriately for a great customer experience,
while optimizing for availability and cost. We aim to eliminate vast quantities
of undifferentiated and often tedious work for SDO development teams - our

designing and implementing the successful outcome to our vision.
As a Software Development Manager in CloudTune, you will be in a highly visible
role that is critical to the success of Amazon's ability to scale reliably and
efficiently to meet Amazon's ever-increasing customer demand and breadth of
service offerings. Your products will drive responsible decision-making for
Amazon's retail website and mobile clients, Amazon's Alexa infrastructure,
digital device support, Prime Video and more. You will work closely with
CloudTune's team of scientists who issue traffic and order forecasts, and
capacity management teams that negotiate Amazon's retail compute capacity needs
with AWS. Your role will be to build the automation, processes and systems that
support the majority of Amazon's retail business' growth cost effectively. This
role has a very broad impact with high influence.
Clear and precise written and verbal communication abilities are essential, as
you will be interacting regularly with senior business, technical and finance
leaders across Amazon. Ability to collaborate and quickly earn trust across
teams with diverse perspectives and goals is equally important. You must have
strong bias for action and a history of delivering results while keeping your
stakeholders well informed. Basic Qualifications: - 3+ years of engineering team
management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and
scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services
experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full
software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards,
code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing,
certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams Preferred
Qualifications: - Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams,
and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product
features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of
Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective,
product software engineers
