About Our Medical Craft
As the single largest medical team integrated across a single agency, the
Medical team uncovers scientific truth through our board expertise in science
and regulatory, medical strategy, medical communications, and value, access and
reimbursement. The Medical team assumes responsibility for understanding the
clinical aspects in depth to discover unique offerings and believes in the
importance of shaping the brand-building process as early as possible: forming
the scientific narrative, the language included in the label, and identifying
where the brand plays in the buying process.
Job Description:
The Associate Director, Scientific Strategy is a hybrid role on Klick’s Medical
Communications and Innovation team, blending high-caliber medical writing with
emerging leadership in scientific strategy. This role is ideal for a scientific
communicator who excels in crafting compelling, accurate content and is eager to
contribute to the strategic direction of innovative medical engagement
initiatives. You’ll work independently on complex content development projects
while progressively contributing to the strategic planning and execution of
medical communications deliverables across therapeutic areas. Reporting to a
senior strategy leader, you’ll collaborate cross-functionally to deliver
integrated, forward-thinking solutions to clients.

Scientific Knowledge and Skills:
- Combines a thorough understanding of the therapeutic area with product
strategy to ensure communication objectives are met on assigned projects
- Able to identify and leverage relevant, focused resources to understand the
underlying science and product strategy related to assigned projects
- Able to work across multiple therapeutic areas
- Able to learn new therapeutic areas quickly and apply new knowledge
- Demonstrates an ability to use a range of resources and tools for efficiency
(e.g. scientific databases, approval software, referencing software)
Medical Writing Excellence:
- Independently develop scientifically robust, compelling, and
audience-appropriate content (e.g., scientific platforms, manuscripts, slide
decks, training materials, digital content) across therapeutic areas
- Conduct high-level literature reviews and synthesize complex data into
cohesive narratives aligned with client objectives
- Independently manage multiple content deliverables to meet deadlines and
quality expectations
- Ensure accuracy, scientific integrity, and compliance with internal and
external standards
- Review and mentor junior writers, providing constructive feedback and
guidance
Strategic Contribution:
- Lead development of project briefs to provide internal cross-functional teams
with guidance and resources for project execution
- Collaborate with senior strategists to support strategic and tactical
planning for medical affairs and commercial clients
- Assist in the design and execution of strategic initiatives such as advisory
boards, workshops, and strategic/tactical planning sessions
- Support innovative projects and contribute to thought leadership through
POVs, trend analyses, and internal strategy development
- Participate in new business activities, such as proposal writing and pitch
presentations, offering both scientific and strategic insights
Client Engagement and Leadership:
- Serve as a trusted point of contact for clients on both content and
strategy-related matters, presenting confidently in meetings and workshops
- Foster strong client relationships through proactive communication, strategic
thinking, and an understanding of the healthcare landscape
- Identify opportunities for organic growth on assigned accounts
- Contribute to proposals for new business
- Contribute to the success of cross-functional internal teams in delivering
scientific content and strategic plans that are impactful and aligned with
client goals
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in a medical communications or medical education
agency
- Able to work across therapeutic areas with a high degree of scientific acumen
and adaptability
- Experienced across a breadth of medical communications strategic and tactical
deliverables
- Scientific degree, PhD or MD preferred
- Passionate about innovation in scientific communication and eager to evolve
into a strategic leadership role
- Comfort with and enthusiasm for integrating AI into your work
