OVERVIEW
The Quality Systems Coordinator is a member of the Toronto operations Quality Group and reports directly to the site Quality Manager. The role is primarily responsible for managing all aspects of SQF certification, Quality and Food Safety systems (including the Prerequisite Programs) and the HACCP plan.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Sets standards and monitors procedures to ensure food safety at all stages of the operation
Maintains and improves site SQF certification
Leads cross-functional HACCP team including regular meetings with the HACCP team to exchange information and discuss new procedures or equipment related to food safety
Prepares and delivers management review presentations to the site’s Food Safety Committee
Actively participates in SQF and customer’s audits, leads any necessary follow up to audit’s observations
Spearheads all aspects of internal audit and GMP Inspection programs consisting of cross-functional team
Manages aspects of document control for the site’s quality programs, including development and implementation of procedures and forms to support quality and food safety systems
Develops and delivers training and orientation materials about GMPs and other food safety & quality topics
Manages corrective actions program, including verification of corrective actions completion and their effectiveness
Plays active role in development and implementation of paperless Quality documents
Performs traceability exercises
Manages all aspects of site’s pest control programs
Assists in preparation of necessary reports and trending information
Works with Supplier Quality on managing documentation for suppliers and various materials, and communicating company standards for quality and safety of incoming products
Liaises with ASR corporate staff on methods and policies development
Interacts with purchasing, maintenance, process, packaging and warehouse supervisory teams to ensure reliability of food safety programs
Practices and promotes GMPs and plant safety procedures
Performs other duties as assigned
WORK EXPERIENCE
HACCP and related food safety training
SQF or other related GFSI benchmarked standard training / certification
PCQI certified
Knowledge of Quality Assurance/Control practices and procedures
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written in English
Experience working as a SQF practitioner preferred
Experience in the development and maintenance of HACCP Plans preferred
Experience working on an internal audit team preferred
Experience working with Redzone preferred
Experience working with pest control service providers preferred
Proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, Access, Visio)
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline from an accredited college/university is required
At least 1 year of applicable professional experience working with quality & food safety systems
