Job Description: Position Summary: The Temporary Christmas Worker will support the smooth delivery of Community & Family Services during the Christmas season. This includes assisting with food bank operations, supporting clients with dignity and respect, and helping with Christmas registration, distribution, and related activities, ensuring a welcoming environment and dignified services for all clients. Food Bank Operations Assist with daily food bank operations, ensuring organization, cleanliness, and a welcoming environment. Prepare and distribute food hampers for clients and community partner agencies. Christmas Assistance Support registration and intake for Christmas services, including last-minute sign-ups. Assist with the preparation and distribution of Christmas hampers and related seasonal activities. Client Support Welcome clients and conduct intake/assessments to determine needs. Maintain accurate documentation and input client information into Link2Feed in line with TSA standards. Reporting & Administration Provide daily activity reports to the Programs Manager. Support the CFS Coordinator with administrative and operational tasks and provide other assistance as required. Health & Safety Comply with all health and safety policies, procedures, and employer instructions in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and related regulations. Ensure that all safety and security rules and guidelines are upheld to protect clients and staff. Qualifications & Skills The successful candidate must: Maintain and promote a positive image of The Salvation Army by providing a high caliber of services and dealing with others in a courteous and professional manner. Must demonstrate a positive attitude towards the homeless and individuals with substance abuse and concurrent problems, including mental health concerns. Demonstrate effective interpersonal, organizational and time management skills. Ability to identify sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality. Ability to demonstrate understanding of and empathy toward cultural differences. Must be sensitive to and respectful of cultural and lifestyle diversity. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and under supervision. Experience working with diverse populations, including those experiencing mental health and addictions. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to clientele and staff of The Salvation Army. Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment when making decisions. To communicate effectively and efficiently in a positive manner as it relates to all levels of interaction with colleagues, clients and community. Experience with or willingness to learn program specific software such as Link2Feed. A high degree of proficiency in duties as well as being able to handle and prioritize numerous tasks and evident desire for self-development, ability to follow detailed instructions. Sensitive and empathetic to vulnerability of clientele. Self-motivated and disciplined. Have knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening. Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $16.00 to $19.62 with a maximum of $23.54. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
