The Opportunity
We’re looking to fill a Manager, Internal Audit position at RFA Bank of Canada!
The Manager, Internal Audit is accountable for a variety of end-to-end audit projects, either independently or as part of a larger team. The role requires maintenance of in-depth audit and business knowledge to act as a leader in promoting a continuous improvement and alignment of RFA Bank’s processes with regulatory expectations, and industry best practices and standards.
Core Responsibilities
As the Manager, Internal Audit, you will:
Audit Project Planning, Execution, and Reporting:
Execute and/or support the planning, execution, and reporting of assigned audits.
Develop risk control matrices to summarize and assess key risks, control objectives, control activities and related test procedures.
Conduct and document end-to-end walkthroughs to assess the design effectiveness of key control activities and alignment with internal and external requirements.
Design and perform tests to assess operating effectiveness of control activities.
Prepare working paper documentation and complete audit engagements in accordance with the IA standards.
Identify, assess, and document the root causes of any identified control weaknesses.
Document clear, concise, and objective audit findings, including recommendations that add value to the businesses.
Assist in the preparation of internal audit reports.
Follow up and validate actions taken by management to remediate audit and regulator findings to ensure that they are effectively designed and appropriately implemented.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with IA team members, auditees, finding owners, management and other stakeholders.
Other duties as assigned.
Training:
Achieve a minimum of 50 hours of relevant and approved training required annually in areas such as Compliance, Risk Management, Governance, Auditing and Interpersonal Skills.
Maintain awareness of emerging issues in the regulatory and external environments to support internal audit advice and insight to management.
Maintain and share current and acquired knowledge of audit standards, tools and techniques.
Assist in team development and continuous improvement activities.
Ensure completion of all company-wide regulatory, compliance and risk management training.
Special Projects:
Support the CIA as requested in special review projects and ad-hoc requests from the Board (e.g. investigations, advisory reviews, data analytics).
What You’ll Need to Succeed
University degree in business, accounting or economics.
Accounting designation preferred (i.e. CMA, CA, CGA).
Certified Internal Auditor and CISA designations considered an asset.
6+ years of experience within an OSFI regulated financial institution.
Knowledge of the regulatory environment and expectations within the Canadian financial services industry (i.e. OSFI, FINTRAC, FCAC).
Strong preference given to individuals with internal audit experience.
Proven track record of adding value to an organization through involvement in proactive implementation of effective controls, governance and risk management practices.
Experience with mortgage products / operations / compliance / risk management an asset.
