Job Description Summary Reporting directly to the Advanced Automation Applications CoE Leader, the Advanced Automation – Technical Application Engineer (TAE) is a key member of the Advance Automation Applications (AAA) CoE team. AAA solutions include electrical monitoring and control systems and power management systems for industrial and utility applications, Distributed Energy Resources (DER) integration solutions, Microgrids control and monitoring solutions, Wide Area Monitoring, Protection and Control solutions (WAMPAC), Remedial Action Schemes (RAS) applicable to islanded or non-islanded installations. You will assist customers with their advanced automation applications, propose different solutions and help customers make decisions; engage with customers in co-creation dialogue, promote our AAA offerings, and act as the technical liaison between the customer and AAA Engineering teams. You will support the region commercial teams in their pre-sale endeavours to drive the AAA solutions worldwide for growing product revenue, margin and overall share in the global market.#LI-ML2 Job Description Major Responsibilities The Technical Application Engineer in the AAA COE will: Promote the AAA portfolio and execute strategic plans to expand activities within targeted segments and key accounts. Present technical solutions and demonstrations to customers and channel partners, and train internal teams on AAA offerings. Define and design technical architectures and standardized solutions for key markets and customers. Support Sales and Tendering teams in presales activities and service offer preparation. Provide feedback to Product Management on customer needs, emerging technologies, and market trends. Serve as the primary point of contact for regional teams, ensuring seamless transition of projects from Sales and Tendering to Engineering execution. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Power Management Systems (industrial or utility), DER integration, or Microgrid Control Systems. Proven experience in analyzing and responding to customer RFQs, interpreting SLDs and operating modes, and tailoring solutions accordingly. Proven background in Design and Engineering, with solid technical expertise in Grid Automation. Expertise in SCADA systems and communication protocols such as IEC 61850, Modbus, DNP3, IEC 104, and MQTT. Good understanding of networking and cybersecurity concepts. Proficiency in English; additional languages (Spanish, French, Arabic, German, Italian, Russian) are valued. Willingness and ability to travel globally up to 50%. Eligibility to work in Canada and ability to successfully pass a background check. Desired Characteristics Familiarity with standards related to DER integration and grid interoperability (e.g., IEEE 1547, IEEE 2030, and relevant grid codes). Ability to work effectively in diverse, global teams. Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive, solution-oriented approach. Team player with a great sense of ownership and urgency. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
