Your Role
This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a regulated manufacturing environment and to contribute directly to the production of advanced medical devices.
The Manufacturing Engineering Co-op will join the Manufacturing Engineering team and work closely with the production team to support their needs by providing technical support. This role supports the Manufacturing Engineering Manager in driving improvements in production efficiency, increasing quality, and reducing costs. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Your Responsibilities Include:
Day-to-day troubleshooting and support of production equipment.
Concept, design, model, and fabrication of FDM 3D printed fixtures, shop aids, and other tooling to support efficient and repeatable assembly processes.
Creation and update of production work instruction documents.
Assemble prototype units in support of tool design and work instructions creation.
Design and implement component bin labels to support our 5S process.
Perform root cause investigations of non-conformances in the production process.
Conduct experiments, collect data, and perform analysis to optimize manufacturing processes and reduce costs.
Assist QA with investigations.
Your Experience So Far:
Currently pursuing a degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar degree or diploma.
Strong analytical technical problem solving skills of complex processes. Involving mechanical processes, electromechanical equipment, and shop personnel.
Strong mechanical aptitude
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in work.
Solidworks proficiency
FDM 3D printing
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively across departments.
Design of experiments
Statistical analysis of experimental data
Location and Compensation:
Our headquarters is in Vancouver, BC adjacent to SkyTrain Station. This is a temporary full-time position of 40 hours per week, on-site, for 8 months. The hourly rate for this role is between $20 to $25 CAD.
