Calgary Homeless Foundation is the guide on the fight against homelessness in Calgary. We allocate resources or highest impact and outcomes, maximizing benefits for people experiencing homelessness. The Position
Reporting to the Manager, Data & Analytics & Business Intelligence, the Data Analyst is responsible for performing statistical analyses that help CHF and agencies in Calgary’s Homeless Serving System of Care to enhance their ability to provide support to those at risk of or experiencing homelessness. The Data Analyst works closely with internal and external stakeholders to create insights from data. This position involves retrieving, modelling, analyzing, and interpreting data and requires strong attention to detail and advanced statistical modelling knowledge.

Accountabilities and Deliverables
Advanced Data Analysis & Modeling Conduct complex statistical analyses and develop both descriptive and predictive models to extract actionable insights that inform strategic decision-making.
Data Exploration & Interpretation Query, analyze, and interpret data from the CHF data warehouse and other internal and external sources to support organizational priorities.
Business Intelligence & Visualization Development Lead the development, enhancement, and maintenance of Qlik dashboards and other visualization tools to ensure timely and accurate representation of key metrics and trends.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Analytical Support Partner closely with System Planners and CHF staff to understand evolving analytical needs and deliver tailored data solutions that support program and policy development. Collaborate with other analysts to deliver valuable insights to both internal and external stakeholders through exploratory analysis to uncover trends and anomalies in data, employing statistical and analytical techniques to extract significant findings.
Reporting & Communication of Insights Design and deliver regular and ad-hoc reports, dashboards, and visualizations using internal BI tools, ensuring clarity and accessibility for both internal and external stakeholders.
Data Quality & Infrastructure Optimization Collaborate with the HMIS team and data warehouse developer to enhance data quality, availability, and usability across CHF’s data assets, ensuring robust infrastructure for analytics and visualization.
Knowledge Advancement Contribute to initiatives that elevate CHF’s subject matter expertise, integrating data visualization to communicate findings effectively and support evidence-based decision making.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as statistics, data science, computer science, economics, and other disciplines with 1-3 years' experience and strong analytical elements or equivalent experience is required.
Experience in developing reports and insights based upon statistical analysis.
Knowledge in a variety of statistical modelling techniques for descriptive and predictive analyses.
Proven ability to communicate and explain complex technical material in a manner understood by the public.
Experience in Business intelligence tools– e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Qlik Sense
Proficient in using SQL to extract, collate and manipulate data from different databases.
Experience with a leading BI tool and data visualization best practices.
Ability to thrive and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent time management skills.
Experience with R or Python will be an asset.
Past social sector experience would be an asset.
