In this role, you will perform engineering design and collaborate with consultant engineers to produce IFC deliverables for automation, monitoring and control of natural gas measurement, control, and compressor facilities. This role demands technical expertise, leadership, and a proactive approach to managing projects.
Responsibilities:
Design and execute Automation, Electrical and Instrumentation projects for natural gas measurement & control and compression facilities.
Develop detailed engineering packages for facility electrical and instrumentation systems.
Create electrical, electronics, and instrumentation wiring diagrams.
Design low voltage power distributions for facilities, including AC and DC systems.
Interpret facility objectives and equipment specifications to accomplish design.
Prepare estimates and equipment specifications.
Program PLCs, RTUs, and HMIs
Provide commissioning support for project installation.
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to complete multi-disciplinary projects.
Manage and guide consultants to perform the above.
Apply required codes, legislation, standards, procedures, and industry best practices, in executing projects/assignments within accepted Company Safety, Environment and Quality Assurance objectives, and achieving best practices.
Provide technical support or troubleshooting assistance to Field Instrumentation and Electronics Technologists.
Participate in project requests and proposals evaluation.
Provide support for group’s undertakings including investigations/studies for improving current practices and performance.
May work as a project manager.
May give technical guidance to less experienced professionals.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering preferably in the fields of Electrical or Electronics.
Membership as a Professional Engineer with APEGA.
3 to 10 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering is preferred.
Experience in design and integration of PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, electronics, and low voltage power distributions systems.
Experience in programming the above.
Strong comprehension of, and ability to apply, technical concepts of electrical engineering, automation, and electrical code.
Experience applying Section 18 - Hazardous Locations of the Canadian Electrical Code is an asset.
Excellent written, oral, presentation, interpersonal, relationship building skills.
Demonstrated ability or potential for developing ability to evaluate technical requirements and make decisions.
Ability to work and collaborate with a team of professional and operations staff to achieve successful results; project planning, estimating, scheduling and cost control skills.
Knowledge and aptitude in the field of gas compressor applications and controls, and associated areas of engine control technology, cooling, pumps/fans, VFD, LV/MV, power distribution, and DCS control equipment would be an asset.
