The Accounting Manager / Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations for a Canadian trailer manufacturing company with operations in both Canada and the United States. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, compliance with Canadian and U.S. tax and regulatory requirements, and effective coordination across all divisions, including Manufacturing, Sales, and Parts & Service.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
Manage the full-cycle accounting process for Canadian parent and U.S. subsidiary entities.
Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate consolidated financial statements.
Maintain compliance with ASPE and U.S. GAAP.
Prepare variance analyses, dashboards, and reports for the CFO.
Cross-Border Operations & Transfer Pricing
Manage all intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
Ensure CRA and IRS transfer pricing compliance.
Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Support
Oversee manufacturing cost models, BOM accuracy, labor allocations, and WIP valuation.
Support Production with standard costing and variance analysis.
Parts & Service Oversight
Manage accounting processes for Parts & Service including inventory, warranty, labor revenue, and core returns.
Taxation & Compliance
Coordinate Canadian and U.S. corporate tax, payroll tax, GST/HST, and state sales tax filings.
Support external audits.
Treasury & Cash Management
Oversee cash flow forecasting, working capital, and banking relationships.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement
Develop and maintain internal controls.
Standardize accounting procedures and improve processes.
Leadership & Team Management
Supervise a team of three accounting staff, all based in Leduc.
Provide training, mentorship, and performance management.
Qualifications
CPA designation preferred.
5–10+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership experience.
Manufacturing and cost accounting experience required.
Strong ERP experience, especially VISUAL Manufacturing.
