POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor – Equipment (Transit), works with and provides technical direction to Service Technicians in the servicing of Transit buses and equipment. Completes inspection reports and participates in the development and implementation of all repair and maintenance programs within the Transit Section.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all duties of the Service Technician A and provides technical direction to the service crew regarding proper operation, minor maintenance servicing, and minor repairs.
Ensures preparation and completion of all documentation related to divisional operations as assigned by the Supervisor.
Participates in the development and implementation of repair prioritization and preventative maintenance programs and servicing.
Records and provides accurate data regarding all servicing repairs and inspection information in electronic or manual records systems as required.
Ensures work areas are cleaned in order to provide a safe efficient working environment.
In absence of Supervisor, calls in authorized personnel dependent upon need.
Communicates on an ongoing basis with Operations Controller and other sectional and departmental staff regarding customer service requirements, progress, and priorities.
Compiles time sheets, work orders, compensation and incident reports.
Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
Grade 12 graduation; or
Equivalent combination of education and experience in the servicing/operation of buses and equipment
One year (current and consecutive experience) as a Service Technician “A”
Five years’ transit operations and maintenance experience
Skills/Abilities:
Must possess the ability to assign work, direct and instruct employees
Must have a mechanical aptitude.
Must be capable of issuing and accurately comprehending written/oral information and instructions
Must be reliable and capable of performing routine work with a minimum of supervision
Must possess and maintain a valid Class "D" Ontario Drivers Licence, or equivalent with a ‘Z’ endorsement in good standing
Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
Must be competent within the Occupational Health & Safety Act
Must have the ability to operate a computer
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Must remain a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
May be required to provide a successful driver’s record (uncertified)
Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
