The mandate of the team includes governance activities, limit monitoring, development of reporting tools, investment risk reporting to the Board and Investment Risk Committees, and providing risk disclosures in the Financial Statements. Under the guidance of the Director, Risk Reporting and Monitoring, the Senior Manager will contribute to the design, development and implementation of the risk reporting and monitoring framework and processes. The incumbent will be accountable for specific deliverables related to the build-out of the investment risk appetite frameworks for market risk, credit risk, ESG and liquidity risk. This role will be responsible for producing investment risk reports for various stakeholders and support the Director to deliver a robust investment policy monitoring process. What you will do: Develop and foster strong relationships within all other parts of HOOPP and build and maintain an effective and efficient network at a variety of levels in the organization Leveraging best in class practices and industry knowledge, contribute to the design and development of HOOPP's risk monitoring and reporting framework from the ground up, covering all investment risks for regulators, internal stakeholders and the Board Develop high-quality risk information and adapt its content to promote strategic risk discussions with target audiences in the organization Support the Director in providing input into board materials, presentations and educational information as required Provide advice and counsel for the design, deployment, and maintenance of enhanced data visualization tools to communicate insights and ensure monitoring compliance with investment policy mandates and risk limits Leverage strong analytical capabilities in investment risk analysis and excellent writing and communication skills to ensure analysis and comments are communicated effectively through risk reports Collect and synthesize data for risk analytics, monitoring, and other operational reporting activities Champion the evolution of workflow redesign, reengineering and automation to continuously improve efficiency and reduce operational risk. Develop reporting and monitoring tools using Python Monitor industry trends and standards for risk monitoring and reporting to shape changes in processes to ensure HOOPP complies with regulatory requirements and meeting industry best practices Own and execute the daily investment risk limit monitoring process, ensuring timely production of compliance reports, monitoring the Fund’s adherence to investment risk limits. Examine and validate changes in risk/compliance reports with position and market changes. Investigate, explain, escalate and document investment policy breaches What you bring: Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in the financial services industry including experience in a risk management department Graduate degree in Finance, Math, Business Administration, Economics, or related field Strong knowledge of risk management, derivatives and quantitative techniques Possess strong technical aptitude and practical experience working with Excel, PowerPoint, and commercial software for data extraction and presentation Proficient in data analysis, enabling insightful interpretation and actionable recommendations. Proficient Python programming skills; familiarity with VBA and R preferred. Experience with database management and executing SQL queries. Experience with business intelligence tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, etc., is an asset. Experience with code management platforms like Git is an asset. Excellent writing, editing and communication skills Proficient in creating risk or other financial reporting for senior management, including the use of data visualization software Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail Strong editorial judgement with a sharp ability to translate finance and risk highlights into engaging content that is effectively framed and targeted to specific audiences Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work with a team, while also being self-motivated and able to work independently Detail and execution-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.
