OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Vice President of Business Intelligence and Reporting, the Director of Financial Reporting is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Financial Reporting department that supports the reporting, forecasting, planning, and analytical functions within the Finance division.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee preparation of management statements including financial statements and key performance indicators (KPIs), board reporting, external agency or regulatory reports, Greenhouse Gas reporting, and audited financial statements with note disclosures.
Present to management and board significant risks including discussions on variances in financial position and operational KPIs.
Execute ad-hoc financial analysis encompassing non-financial and financial data to provide management recommendations on issues at hand (e.g., confirmation of accuracy of external reports, cost saving opportunities, new financial risks).
Define and establish new financial models to improve accuracy of existing models or processes and improve insights provided through analytics.
Lead the financial planning process through developing and overseeing long-term forecasting, annual budgets, and rolling forecasts that span multiple companies and business units.
Provide oversight of processes relating to data processing and transactional entries to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with organizational policies.
Focus on process improvement by implementing new systems, processes, and controls to ensure accurate and complete financial results.
Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to support an environment that is focused on increasing visibility to financial data and promote open communication.
Provide mentorship across the department to align team members with and without accounting knowledge on requirements of accounting policies and principles.
Support the development of team through professional development activities geared towards upskilling soft skills and hard skills.
Engage as a participant on multiple cross-functional committees focused on data governance, accounting processes, and program reporting improvements.
Complete special projects as assigned by CFO or VP BIR.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting or equivalent
CPA designation.
Strong knowledge of Canadian Accounting Standards.
Experience
6+ years of relevant accounting and financial reporting experience at senior level.
Preference for experience in working in public accounting.
Experience in managing remote teams.
SAP S4 experience

Process improvement focused mind.
Strong interpersonal skills are needed to interact and work with various departments and across many different levels within the organization and with external parties.
Ability to communicate effectively key messages through story telling (verbal and written) to senior management and board in a concise manner.
Advanced Excel proficiency and preference for experience with Power BI and/or Datarails.
Strong analytical, planning and organization skills.
Initiative-taking collaborator, problem solver and strong people leader.
Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-matrix environment and deal with competing priorities.
Proven resiliency and tenacity to perform well under pressure and regularly meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced and transformational environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
All CM employees work 40 hours per week, remotely from a home office environment.
This role requires occasional work in the Toronto head office.
