Job Description
Responsibilities:
Safely and efficiently load and unload freight onto the truck, ensuring proper securing of cargo.
Complete local deliveries and pickups within Regina and the surrounding area in a timely manner.
Plan and optimize delivery routes using GPS and route planning software to maximize efficiency.
Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any issues or maintenance needs.
Use a handheld to accurately record deliveries, pickups, and any discrepancies or damages.
Ensure all necessary paperwork, including bills of lading and delivery receipts, is completed accurately and promptly.
Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations while operating the vehicle.
Provide excellent customer service, maintaining a professional demeanor when interacting with clients.
Handle cash transactions and credit card payments when required.
Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the truck and loading area.
Communicate effectively with dispatch and other team members regarding route changes, delays, or other issues.
Properly handle and transport hazardous materials in accordance with TDG regulations.
Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts, when necessary for loading and unloading.
Adapt to changing weather conditions and adjust driving techniques accordingly.
Participate in ongoing safety training and stay updated on industry best practices.
This position typically operates Monday to Friday, with occasional flexibility in availability required to meet business needs.
Qualifications
Valid Class 5 license with clean driving record
Minimum 1 year of pick-up & delivery experience in an urban environment
Physically fit and able to lift and carry up to 50lbs regularly throughout the workday
Excellent time management skills and ability to work efficiently under pressure
Reliable and dependable with an excellent attendance record
Strong knowledge of Regina and surrounding areas, including optimal routes and traffic patterns
Proficiency in using GPS and route planning software
TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods) certification
WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) certification
Forklift operation experience and certification
Excellent customer service skills with a professional demeanor
Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills
Basic computer skills for data entry and digital record-keeping
Ability to work in various weather conditions
Must be able to provide a criminal record check, driver's abstract, and 2 work-related references
