Are you the one we’re looking for?
We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Overnight Awake Asylum Seekers Assistance Program Worker who demonstrates our values of compassion, accountability, responsiveness and empowerment; to our clients, families and each other.
This position is a unionized, full-time, permanent position. The rate of pay is $23.93 per hour. Hours per week are 40.
Key Responsibilities:
To carry out any reasonable duties as required.
To keep all information relating to clients, staff, and service users confidential, in accordance with Wesley’s confidential policy.
To collect document copies, scan and save them in the ASAP folder
To respond to ASAP clients’ needs, aiding and resources when necessary
To Provide support to ASAP clients in a reception Centre setting.
To assign and prepare rooms for clients arriving.
To provide information to refugees about rules and regulations of the Reception Centre for clients arriving late.
To create and maintain a welcoming and safe housing environment with around-the-clock service.
To work under a lens of integration with other Wesley programs, to ensure efficiencies are realized through evidence-based practices.
To develop a semi-annual work plan and activities and submit reports as required.
What you will bring:
Post-secondary education at a College Diploma level or higher, including studies pertinent to settlement, social services, adult education, community health, migration issues or other related education.
Relevant practical experience working with newcomer families is required.
Advanced computer skills required in the following programs: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook; Adobe; any database program.
Excellent communication, organization, and coordination skills.
Proven ability to demonstrate Wesley’s mission, vision, and values.
Fluency in Czech, Spanish, or French (verbal and written) is an asset.
Available to work flexible/irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
A Valid Driver’s License with access to a vehicle would be an asset.
Non-violent crisis intervention and first aid/CPR training is required.
