The Department of Community Health Sciences in the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar in Racialized Peoples¿ Health. This position is for a project on climate justice, mobility justice, and health of racialized people in Canada.
Job Description:
This is a full-time position based in Calgary. This position is for one year only. The postdoctoral scholars must be able to work in person five days a week onsite in Calgary. The applicant must also be able to travel across sites.
Application to postdoctoral scholarships, such as CIHR and SSHRC award will be expected.
Duties will include the following
- Conduct literature reviews, literature search, scoping review, and systematic review
- Engage with racialized communities
- Recruit research participants
- Collect interview data
- Analyze data including with NVivo qualitative data analysis software
- Write papers for publication
- Develop and submit research proposals
- Apply advanced theoretical and/or analytical techniques
- Develop presentations for events, conferences and other knowledge mobilization products
- Manage ethics submissions, modifications and renewals
- Mentor and train research assistants and graduate students
- Coordinate and participate in community and stakeholder engagement sessions
- Develop data collection instruments including interview instruments
- Assist with research data management
- Attend research team meetings
- Liaise with community organizations
Qualifications:
- PhD degree in fields related to climate justice, mobility justice, immigrant health
- PhD must have been awarded within the last seven years
- In-depth knowledge of climate justice, mobility justice and health
- Experience working on qualitative research projects with racialized communities in Canada
- Experience conducting scoping reviews or systematic reviews
- Track record of journal publications
- Outstanding writing skills in English
- Experience with qualitative data analysis including use of NVivo software
- Strong motivation to submit papers for publication in peer reviewed journals
- In-depth theoretical knowledge
- Ability to mentor undergraduate and graduate student
- High level of effective time management, personal initiative, and teamwork
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, organization, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
- Bilingual applicants (English and French) will be prioritized in the selection process
