The Department of Physics & Astronomy in the Faculty of Science at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for two postdoctoral associate positions in Quantum Sensing.
Job Description:
Applications are invited for two postdoctoral positions available in the group of Professor Barry Sanders. Both positions are for theoretical research on quantum sensing and metrology. The three main activities are optimal phase estimation with parametric interferometry, also known as SU(1,1) interferometry, multi- photon quantum metrology, and combining squeezing and anti-squeezing for efficient metrology with multimode systems. The postdocs will be working closely with Professors Sanders and Hubert de Guise and with National Research Council Scientists Drs Khabat Heshami and Aaron Goldberg.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed a PhD or equivalent in theoretical or mathematical physics or a related discipline before the start of the appointment and within the past five years. A strong background and track record in quantum optics, quantum information science, or mathematical physics is required. Research achievements in quantum metrology are desirable. Possible start dates are between 1st June 2025 and 1st November 2025.
