The Recruitment Team in the Office of the Registrar is currently seeking a Recurring Part-time Student Recruitment Assistant.
The Student Recruitment Team in Student and Enrolment Services supports the attraction of top undergraduate students from around the world through strategic marketing and recruitment initiatives, including the delivery of a series of events for prospective students, applicants, parents, counsellors, and other stakeholders. The Student Recruitment Team handles tens of thousands of inquiries pertaining to high school and transfer applications. Reporting to the Manager, Alberta Recruitment and Events this recurring part-time position serves to support the Student Recruitment Team in Student and Enrolment Services and coordinate the campus tours program for prospective undergraduate students.
The business day for Enrolment services runs from 8:30 am thru 4:30 pm Monday-Friday. Shifts will typically range from 4-5 hours in duration up to a full 7 hour, Monday to Friday with the exception of statutory holidays and closures. Peak periods are August-September and January.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Work in partnership with Student Recruitment Advisor(s) and the Manager, Alberta Recruitment and Events.
- Oversees all functional areas that support the visitor experience including specialized tours, daily tours, and group tours.
- Coordinates the campus tour schedule and program.
- Provides leadership, training, and mentorship to a high functioning group of student volunteers; recruits and supervises approximately 20 student volunteer tour guides.
- Conducts post-tour evaluations and analysis, and recommends and implements program improvements.
- Collaborates with and builds strong relationships with UCalgary constituencies including alumni, parents, high schools, and community college programs to build a successful campus tour program.
- Conducts campus tours as required.
- Provides informational services (in groups, in person, on the phone, via email) to prospective students and families.
- Presentations to varied audiences.
- Communicates information pertaining to the University of Calgary in an accurate, timely, and honest manner.
- Detailed Knowledge of the University of Calgary's programs, services, enrolment policies and procedures is ensured.
- Provides pre-admission advising and support of the admissions process to prospective students and their families.
- Supports distribution of recruitment publications.
- Provide frontline support for our prospective student advising services.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in a related field. An undergraduate degree is preferred.
- Previous experience with event management will be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the organizational structure of the University of Calgary with regard to such factors as location, student population and academic programs is considered an asset.
- Strong scheduling, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to lead, manage, and supervise student volunteers.
- Ability to manage change and demonstrate success in leading change initiatives.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with diverse groups of people.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, colleagues, school administrators, officials and representatives.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure, team-based environment and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft or EzRecruit CRM would be an asset.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Willing to work evenings and weekends as required.
