The School of Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA), Division of Music invites applications for sessional instructors to teach the following courses in the Fall 2025 and Winter 2026.
Lectures for the Fall 2025 term run from September 2 to December 5, 2025, and lectures for the Winter 2026 term run from January 12 to April 14, 2026. Please see the academic schedule for additional important dates and deadlines.
NOTE: THE FOLLOWING COURSE OFFERINGS ARE TENTATIVE, PENDING FUNDING AND SUFFICIENT ENROLMENTS.
NOTE: THERE MAY BE CANDIDATES WITH THE RIGHT OF FIRST REFUSAL (TUCFA Collective Agreement 23.12).

MUPF 241/341 Chamber Music MUPF 641/643 Advanced Chamber Ensemble I & II
Current Offering:
Fall 2025 and Winter 2026: TBA
Sessional hired according to a Letter of Understanding for Musicians One-on-One Instruction: The extent of duties shall be determined on the basis of the following formula: six (6) students, each with a one-hour lesson per week for one term (13 weeks) shall be the equivalent of one half-course (1.0 HCE).
Course Description:Performing of music for small ensembles/Intensive coaching in chamber ensembles.
Notes: Students are required to audition during the first week of classes in September. Students who are unsuccessful will be removed from the course.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Significant professional experience performing in classical chamber and/or jazz combo settings.
- Significant teaching experience and demonstrated ability to work with ensembles (large/small, vocal /instrumental, depending on specific ensemble) at an advanced level.
- Strong organizational and professional skills
Sessionals for Ensembles are hired at 1.5 HCE
MUPF 201/301 Chamber Choir
Fall 2025 and Winter 2026, Tuesdays and Thursdays 14:00-15:15
Course Description: Performing experience in the Chamber Choir.
MUPF 205/305 University Chorus
Fall 2025 and Winter 2026, Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:30-13:45
Course Description: Performing experience in the University Chorus.
MUPF 211/311 Symphonic Band
Fall 2025 and Winter 2026, Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:30-13:45
Course Description: Performing experience in the Symphonic Band.
MUPF 213/313 Wind Ensemble
Fall 2025 and Winter 2026, Tuesdays and Thursdays 14:00-15:15
Course Description: Performing experience in the Wind Ensemble.
MUPF 221/321 Collegium Musicum
Fall 2025 and Winter 2026, Tuesdays and Thursdays 16:00-17:15
Course Description: Performance of instrumental and vocal music written before 1750.
MUPF 225/325 Instrumental Jazz Ensemble
Fall 2025 and Winter 2026, Tuesdays and Thursdays 16:00-17:15
Course Description: Performance in a jazz combo or band.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- At least a Master's degree in Music and/or equivalent professional experience
- Significant teaching experience and demonstrated ability to conduct and work with ensembles (large/small, vocal/instrumental, depending on specific ensemble) at the post-secondary level.
- Strong organizational and professional skills
