The Black Planners and Urbanist Association (BPUA) is seeking an experienced and motivated Operations Manager to join our team on a part-time basis (20 hours per week -- Monday to Friday, occasional evenings and weekends). Working collaboratively with, and reporting to the Board of Directors, while working alongside colleagues, and community stakeholders, the Operations Manager will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of BPUA by providing organizational support, ensuring the effective delivery of programs, events and services, and fostering a culture of innovation, efficiency, accountability, and inclusivity.
JOB SUMMARY
This role is integral to the efficiency of BPUA, requiring a candidate who excels in a dynamic environment, can work alongside a team and is a self-starter who works well independently. The successful applicant will provide top-tier confidential support, manage tasks with precision, and demonstrate meticulous attention to detail. Every day will look different, but you will always apply your project management, organization, people, communication and problem-solving skills. This is a fully remote position with corporate technology provided to perform all necessary job duties.
CORE DUTIES
- Manage all operational aspects of BPUA programs, communication and services.
- Oversight and support of the financial operations including the completion of monthly expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Prepare standard correspondence and assist with internal/external communication.
- Manage and respond to incoming communications.
- Foster and maintain Membership and stakeholder correspondence and databases.
- Manage calendars and meetings for the Board and leadership team for meetings and events.
- Facilitate Board Meetings with Agenda creation and serving as the Board Secretary during meetings
- Facilitate travel arrangements for the Board and staff, as needed
- Manage all aspects of event planning including but not limited to securing venues, booking speakers, design and creating advertising materials.
- Maintain routine communication with the Board, leadership, ensuring portals and internal resources are current with relevant documents
- Provide general office administrative support managing complex tasks independently
- Assist in the development and maintenance of relevant systems and processes including establishing a new website, that includes membership registration and streamlined payment, under the direction of the board.
- Monitor and engage and respond to the community and members across social media platforms eg: Instagram, LinkedIn. Assist in developing strategies to grow engagement and follower base.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in content management systems (CMS) and email marketing platforms.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Creative thinker with a passion for storytelling and branding.
- Able to work independently to move actions through to completion, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree or experience in Marketing, Communications, or related fields would be considered an advantage.
Part -time (20 hours per week) @ $30 per hour
