Applications are now being accepted for the temporary full-time summer student position of HR Analyst in the People Services Department, Office of the Chief Administrative Officer.
Job Summary
The HR Analyst - summer student will work with the People Services Department to research and develop promotional materials and job opportunities in alternate formats to meet AODA standards. They will work with the recommendations from the Diversity Action Plan to advance the accessibility materials within the recruitment and onboarding program for new staff.
Duties \& Responsibilities
- Develop supporting resources to leverage technology to enhance the recruitment and interview experience for candidates.
- Assist in the development and revision of recruitment materials, job postings, templates, and communications to ensure alignment with accessibility and equity standards.
- Support the creation of guides and toolkits for hiring managers to promote equitable hiring practices.
- Conduct research on inclusive recruitment practices, accessibility requirements under AODA, and DEI strategies in the public and private sectors.
- Assist People Services HRS and HRBP to identify gaps and provide recommendations in their recruitment promotional process and onboarding.
- Participate in outreach initiatives and support efforts to broaden candidate reach to underrepresented groups.
- Assist in organizing and documenting inclusive hiring resources and standard operating procedures.
- Be technology savvy --- the ability to leverage social media, and to use or learn a variety of software and systems including video conferencing, human resources management system, MS Office, Google platform.
- Prepare presentations using PowerPoint and other related software.
- Provide general administrative support related to recruitment and DEI initiatives as required.
Qualifications \& Education
- Enrolled in a diploma or undergraduate program in a relevant discipline (Education, Public Policy, Human Rights, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Equity Studies, Accessibility/Disability Studies).
- Proficient with Google platform including Google Docs.
- Self-starter and able to prioritize and manage tasks.
- Experience doing research and analysis is an asset.
- Knowledge or interest in AODA compliance, DEI principles, and equitable recruitment.
- Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
- Attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proficiency with development of interactive templates/forms.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Position Details
This is a 35-hour/week position and will be on-site 5 days a week at the Civic Centre (101 Town Centre Blvd, Markham). Hours of work will be between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
