Position Overview
Our client is a leading Canadian pharmaceutical trade association with a dual mission of advocacy and health research to advance Canada's life sciences sector. Experiencing a period of sustained growth, they are seeking a finance leader to play a pivotal role in the organization's strategic development. Reporting to the President, the VP will take on a diverse mandate overseeing finance, internal controls, IT, procurement, and strategic business partnering.
This is an attractive opportunity for an experienced finance leader to take on a transformational role within a purpose-driven organization. Our client is taking action to expand its service offerings and is seeking someone to support the President. You will utilize your experience to serve as a strategic executive, working closely with key external and internal executives to drive an increase in membership and impact.
Role Responsibilities
- Providing strategic leadership and oversight to ensure the delivery of financial operational excellence.
- Actively evaluate the impact and performance of the organization's business plans, budgeting and long-range planning, and introduce new programs/strategies to ensure they are on track with the plan.
- Responsible for the management of appropriate financial management and internal control systems that assure the integrity of data.
- Ensure the annual external audit is completed in a timely and objective manner, including issuance of the annual financial statements.
- Present the financial results \& any key actions necessary to the Board and Senior Executive team.
- Review and enhance controls and processes to protect and preserve the organization's assets and mitigate risk.
- Recruit, motivate, develop and retain talent to deliver impactful results.
Desired Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant financial experience, including 5 years in a senior financial management role.
- Post-secondary degree in accounting, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Chartered Professional Accountant, CPA (or equivalent) required.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to identify trends, establish benchmarks and provide credible analysis and business recommendations.
- Demonstrated track record of achievement in transformation and driving innovation.
- Experience in financial strategy, treasury risk assessment, \& cash flow management.
- Demonstrated comfort and presence with Boards and external agencies.
Please note that at present, legal eligibility to work in Canada is a prerequisite for this role.
