The Resilience in Action project is designed to support survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) through the development of a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and accessible digital platform. This initiative focuses on addressing systemic barriers and creating a safe, empowering space for survivors, particularly immigrant, refugee, and non-status women.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Newcomer Community Communication \& Marketing professional to develop and execute strategies that amplify the project's reach, engage diverse communities, and promote the project's goals. This role requires proven expertise in leading communications with vulnerable populations in multilingual and multicultural environments. As the Director, Newcomer Community Engagement \& Communications, you will be responsible for leading and scaling our community initiatives across multiple channels, to include our overall communications strategy. You will shape the future of our community engagement efforts, drive community-building initiatives, and manage our digital presence. Your focus will be to build and nurture a passionate and loyal community of survivors, anti-violence agencies, newcomer settlement agencies, frontline organizations, advocates and community partners. You will work closely with the design and development team to create strategies that foster engagement, growth, and brand advocacy.
This is a senior leadership role where you will have the opportunity to shape the direction of our overall communications and community engagement strategy, from both a tactical and strategic standpoint. You will drive the growth of our community and advocate for their needs and feedback within the company, while also ensuring that our community is a vital part of our overall brand presence.

- Community Strategy Development Lead the development of a comprehensive community engagement strategy with a strong focus on execution and measurable results, to help meet our growth objectives around engagement, outreach and mission alignment.
- Community Growth \& Management. Identify and engage new community members across relevant platforms (online forums, social media, events). Build, grow, and manage an engaged community of frontline, provincial and national organizations.
- Communications Management. Define and execute our overall communications strategy to build awareness and drive partner and survivor engagement. Manage the content, technical development and ongoing updates for the VESTA website and other key communication pathways.
- Content \& Communication. Build and execute a content strategy, including blog posts, newsletters, social media, etc in collaboration with content writers.
- Events \& Partnerships Plan. Promote, and execute both virtual and in-person events, such as learning sessions, lunch and learns, webinars. Develop and nurture strategic partnerships with other companies, organizations, and thought leaders in the anti-GBV and tech ecosystem.
- Advocacy \& Support. Serve as the voice of the community within the company, communicating insights and feedback to product, engineering, and leadership teams. Act as a liaison between the company and the community to foster trust and loyalty.
- Data-Driven Insights. Use analytics, SEO and feedback from online and community interactions to measure engagement, identify opportunities for growth, and improve community initiatives. Provide regular reports to leadership on community health, growth, and impact.
- Team Leadership. Build and manage a high-performing content creation \& community engagement team. Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members and cross-functional collaborators to ensure alignment and success.

8 years of experience in community engagement, communications, marketing, or public relations, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.

Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field; equivalent experience considered

Experience in social impact, social work, and/or anti-GBV communication experience.

International experience and multilingualism are assets.

Successful candidates will be required to complete a successful background check prior to commencing employment which may include verification of identity with photo ID, criminal record, vulnerable persons and background check with previous employers and given references.

While the contract is project-specific, there may be opportunities for extension or other roles depending on future funding and organizational needs.

Proven experience building and leading high-performing teams. Able to inspire and motivate others to achieve ambitious goals.

Demonstrated ability to manage marketing and communications budget.

Demonstrated ability to create and implement strategic plans for community engagement and growth. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to engage a wide range of audiences, from anti-GBV organizations to GBV survivors.

Experience communicating and connecting with multicultural and multi-language organizations is an asset.

Proficiency in French and another language is a strong asset.

Demonstrated understanding technical SEO, analytics and growth marketing strategies. Hands-on experience working with analytical tools, such as Semrush and Ubersuggest to drive data-driven insights.
