ABOUT THE ROLE:
We're looking for a technically-minded and solutions-driven Inside Technical Sales Engineer to support our growing Air Handling Systems division. In this role, you'll work closely with engineers, consultants, and project teams to help design and select air handling solutions that meet each project's unique needs.
You'll be the technical go-to within the team - reviewing mechanical drawings, understanding design criteria, and helping position our products as the best fit for the job. If you love the design side of HVAC and enjoy collaborating with engineers and internal teams, this role is for you.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with consulting engineers to understand project requirements and provide tailored air handling system designs and product selections.
- Interpret mechanical drawings and specs to recommend appropriate equipment configurations that align with design intent and performance goals.
- Coordinate with manufacturers to confirm technical feasibility, customization options, and application limitations.
- Prepare supporting technical documentation, system layouts, and design notes to assist with engineer submittals and project development.
- Act as the technical point of contact for engineering firms throughout the design phase, ensuring clear communication and consistent support.
- Support the sales/project team by providing in-depth technical insight on product capabilities and system applications.
- Participate in technical presentations, lunch-and-learns, and occasional site visits to support engineering engagement and product promotion.
- Work closely with the director and engineering team to align on project priorities and design strategy.
- Maintain accurate records of system selections and feedback from engineers to inform future designs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Systems, HVAC Design, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in a technical sales, HVAC design, or applications engineering role.
- Solid understanding of air handling units, ERVs/HRVs, and ventilation system design principles.
- Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills - comfortable speaking with engineers.
- Organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple technical requests at once.
CONSIDERED ASSETS:
- Experience with custom or semi-custom AHU design.
- Understanding of building codes and energy efficiency programs
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and knowledge of design tools like AutoCAD
- Experience working in a manufacturer's rep firm or with HVAC consultants.
