The following temporary RECE position is available:
1.0 FTE - St. Dominic Savio CES
May 16, 2025 to June 13, 2025
General Description of Duties:
The responsibilities of the position include collaborating with other educators to plan and implement the Early Learning Kindergarten program within a classroom setting and/or taking the lead in implementing age-appropriate learning for groups of students as part of the Extended Day Program.
The RECE will deliver faith-based Early Learning Programs in an environment that enhances children's cognitive, physical, social, spiritual, and emotional development.
Responsibilities for Both Kindergarten and Extended Day Programs:
- Partner with classroom educators and other designated staff to plan and implement the Early Learning Kindergarten and Extended Day Program(s) through developmentally appropriate curriculum-based activities.
- Collaborate with classroom educators and other designated staff to support individual students' needs, strengths, interests, and stages of development.
- Observe, monitor, and assess the development of pupils in Kindergarten and/or Extended Day Program.
- Collaborate with classroom educators and the special education teacher to carry out specialized activities supporting learning for students requiring an Individual Education Plan (IEP).
- Collaborate with the Extended Day team to implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum based on the program expectations.
- Maintain a healthy, physical, emotional, and social learning environment for students.
- Provide a variety of experiences to strengthen pro-social skills such as sharing, problem-solving, and cooperation.
- Provide guidance in washroom routines, dressing, and lunchtime activities.
- Maintain appropriate records for students (e.g., health, attendance, etc.) respecting confidentiality and adhering to all privacy legislation.
- Collaborate and maintain the setup of the classroom (e.g., display, organization of materials, etc.).
- Attend staff meetings, school-level meetings, and professional development activities as applicable.
- Perform related administrative functions such as attendance and billing in the extended day program.
- Complete any duties assigned by the Administrator or ECE Supervisor.
Application Requirements for Permanent Consideration:
- Member in Good Standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- While Catholicity requirements are not mandatory to apply, preference will be given to applicants who meet them.
- External applicants must include a cover letter and resume. Internal applicants, including those on the RECE supply list, are not required to submit these documents.
Application Process for Catholic Applicants:
- Include a copy of your Roman Catholic Baptismal certificate.
- Include a Catholic Confirmation certificate if baptized in a Christian denomination other than Roman Catholic.

Schedule and Hours of Work:
Hours will be confirmed by the Administrator in coordination with the ECE Supervisor. Full-time positions are 7 hours/day plus ½ to 1 hour unpaid lunch. Part-time positions are 3.5 hours/day. Schedules vary from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm depending on the school.
