Position Overview
Resumes are being accepted for the position of Fleet Inventory Systems Technologist within Fleet Services Division. Reporting to the Supervisor Fleet Planning, the successful candidate will maintain CMMS and inventory data, generate inventory activity and management reports, provide data analysis for warehouse activity and planning. Maintains integrity of the inventory processes and accuracy for all Fleet operations. Key duties and responsibilities
- Liaise with fleet staff on inventory procedures, policies and regulations. Creates and maintains best practice work instructions and guidelines.
- Generate inventory data reports, provide analysis, rate with key performance indicators (KPI), for inventory management track and document trends and status of Parts Dept performance measures that may include preventive maintenance staging, parts availability, inventory valuation and cost trending.
- Updates material management data basis, monitors 'Special Order' parts, maintains parts life cycle in CMMS from new vehicle pre-delivery inspection sheets (PDI), PM bill of material requirements, fleet growth and fleet disposal/retirement forms.
- Performs inventory consumption and usage, review maintaining CMMS stocking levels required to attain parts availability objectives. Update changes in CMMS within limitations.
- Reviews inventory for slow moving and obsolete parts based on established criteria. Recommends actions to mitigate risk.
- Creates all new part numbers and required item master data in CMMS. Includes purchasing parameters, stock levels and cost.
- Coordinates with Purchasing to set up all new vendors in CMMS.
- Supports cycle-count process. Develops schedule where all parts are counted within calendar year, creates count sheets, perform count audits and variance resolution.
- Supports annual inventory activities. Maintains process, creates count sheets, supports count entry in CMMS, perform count audits, resolves discrepancies, and presents for approval to close adjustments.
- Performs quarterly audit and reconciliation of Operations fuel programs.
- Performs regular review of vendor performance, cost analysis and supply chain recommendations.
- Assist Supervisor, Fleet Planning with inventory budget, managing vendor/supplier/contract performance standards and with procurement process.
- Maintains a high level of knowledge of computer and systems technology applicable to all fleet data management systems, EAM/ERP and corporate software through continuous improvement and self-learning programs
- Perform other related duties to support Fleet management and administration staff
Qualifications and requirements
- Minimum Grade 12 and post secondary training or education in a related field
- Experience related to the duties listed above, normally acquired through post-secondary education in Computer/Instrumentation, data analytics or a related field
- Minimum 2 -3 years experience with inventory and preventative maintenance programs in a fleet environment, production and/or operational environment. Candidates with an equivalent education and experience may also be considered.
- Experience with Computerized maintenance management Systems (CMMS) such as Oracle WAM, Fleet Focus and IBM/Maximo.
- Strong skillset in Microsoft Office specifically Excel pivot tables and v-lookup.
- A valid Class G driver licence with a good driving record. Successful candidates will be required to provide a current driver's abstract prior to their start date to confirm their licence is held in good standing and that it has not been suspended or revoked under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) or Criminal Code of Canada in the last 5 years. The City of Guelph will take into consideration the number of demerit points and/or nature of the infractions to determine if it meets our requirements.

- Strong analytical skills, along with sound financial aptitude and attention to detail/accuracy
- Ability to analyze and investigate problems, identify alternatives and make recommendations to improve practices, implement procedures and policies.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments in order to meet deadlines in a very demanding environment.
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff and stakeholders.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving techniques and the application of good judgment consistent with industry "best practices".
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to prepare reports and make presentations.
- A PEMAC, Maintenance Management Professional Certification (MMP) or SMRP, Certified Maintenance \& Reliability Professional (CMRP) Program, or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) will be considered an asset.
- Demonstrates ability to work in an environment with changing priorities
- Working knowledge of various computer operating systems, computer hardware and experience with enterprise asset management software (WAM, Crystal Reports, Win-Fuel, JD Edwards and experience would be an asset).
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
Hours of work
35 hours per week Monday to Friday between the hours of 7:00 am and 5:00 pm. Occasional evening work hours and/or Saturday shift may be required and for inventory audits.
Pay/Salary
CUPE 973 Grade 7: $30.27 - $37.15 per hour
