Post End Date: July 3, 2025 at 11:59 PM This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the Administrative Professional (Employee Group) About the Role: Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, Students, the Executive Director, Student Wellness and Accessibility Centre (SWAC) is responsible for strategic planning and ensuring operational excellence in all activities related to student health and wellness, mental health, and services for students with accessibility and inclusion needs. The overall goal is to provide coordinated assessment and specialized services under one umbrella, leading to comprehensive student support(s) and a seamless student experience. The Executive Director, SWAC is responsible for developing policies, budgets, guidelines, and procedures for identifying synergies and harmonizing activities across the campus(es). The Executive Director, SWAC manages financial and human resources in support of student health and wellness, accessibility and inclusion and ensures alignment with the University’s mission and its strategic mandates. The Executive Director, SWAC plays an important role in the University’s efforts to enhance equity, diversity, inclusivity, and accessibility while contributing to the shared mission of creating an exceptional student centred co-curricular experience that supports and engages students in a safe environment. In all operational aspects, the Executive Director, SWAC will personify the values of Brock Student Wellness and Accessibility Centre. The Executive Director, Student Wellness & Accessibility Centre will: Develop, execute and oversee a 3–5-year plan that incorporates sector leading practices and research, establishing a mission, and articulating a vision that fosters retention, enhancing student potential for academic success and overall well-being; Develop and execute a comprehensive student health and wellness strategy that aligns with Brock’s institutional priorities and legislative obligations; Serve as a key strategic advisor to senior leadership for student wellness and accessibility, driving initiatives that enhance well-being, mental health, and accessibility to support; Provide strategic and operational leadership to SWAC, ensuring service excellence and student-centered care; Build and nurture relationships with key external partners, including Public Health, healthcare agencies, not-for-profit organizations and Student Service organizations; Develop, implement and oversee the delivery of an integrated health, wellness and accessibility services model that improves student outcomes; Anticipate and manage any risks related to the provision of accommodations, health and wellness services, and support crisis management issues; Ensure all legislative and regulatory requirements and standards of care are met by the department; Develop annual departmental budget, manage the budget, oversee billings and complete variance reports, as required; Secure funding, and drive financial sustainability and revenue generating opportunities by developing a strategy to source and optimize external grants, fundraising, sponsorship and philanthropic opportunities; Establish, track and report on key metrics and performance indicators which demonstrate the effectiveness of core services; Provide leadership to direct and indirect reports including managing, coaching, mentoring and motivating. Key Skills and Experience: A Master’s degree in a related field (I.e., Human Health Services, Public Health, Health Services Management and Administration); A minimum of 5-7 years of leadership experience in health care administration, health care or a health-related field, with a focus on service delivery and service excellence; Expertise in leading within a multidisciplinary healthcare service, including mental health, primary care, rehabilitation, and crisis response; Demonstrated knowledge of program development, strategic planning and budget management; Knowledge of the principles and legal requirements and emerging issues in the field of mental health, student health and accessibility; Understanding of patient/client centred approaches to care that account for equity diversity and inclusion; Skilled in Human Resources management, including leading, mentoring, motivating and integrating multi-disciplinary staff-teams; Understanding of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, the Personal Health Information Protection Act, the Human Rights Code, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles; Strong computer skills and competency with spreadsheets, email, word processing, database software packages, and other computer technology; Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to cultivate and maintain ongoing relationships with internal and external partners; Exceptional conflict management skills, including the ability to diffuse and de-escalate highly emotional situations; Ability to research best practices and emerging trends, identifying the applicability and potential impact; Ability to establish strategic direction and corresponding operational plans, including creative and innovative student-centric services and programs; Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle a variety of projects, deadlines and schedules simultaneously, under minimal supervision. Preferred or Asset Skills: Experience writing grant proposals; Experience working in a post-secondary environment; and Experience with disability inclusion in higher education or related experience with individuals with disabilities, preferably in a college or university setting.
