Course Description: EDPS 620 Professional Seminar 2: EDPS : Primary goal is to finalize students’ Capstone Research Projects (CRPs) culminating in student CRP presentations at the Capstone Research Symposium. Provides support to student teaching in EDIN 620 through discussion of professional and ethical considerations during internship and as novice teachers. E-portfolios are completed. Professional Competencies are developed and assessed. Course Credits: 1 Number of positions available: 1 This course is not Team taught. Teaching Qualification Requirements: Education: PhD (in exceptional cases, PhD candidates and master teacher with an MA with extensive relevant experience will be considered) Experience: Teaching degree or equivalent, and experience teaching in secondary schools. Expert knowledge of and experience in course content. Knowledge of the Quebec Education Program (QEP). Familiarity with the Professional Competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation. Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) at the graduate level is an asset. Familiarity with myCourses and Zoom or similar online course platforms an asset. Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset. Familiarity with MATL Capstone Research Project (CRP) . Other: Must be available to attend course and program coordination and planning meetings in advance of course start date. Responsibilities include: support for finalizing CRPs and CPR presentations; oversight and organization of Capstone Research Symposium (e.g. supporting students in producing infographics, abstracts and presentations/workshops, organizing and producing conference schedule); and uploading final products and videos of CRP presentations to myCourses for future cohorts. Other Information: This course may be unofficially crosslisted with EDIN 602 (Professional Seminar Portion), in order to allow students in the previous version of the program to complete program requirements, Course Expectations remain similar in providing Capstone Research Project support. May be responsible for reading and proving feedback on Capstone Research Projects for students requiring additional feedback. This course may be subject to a co-teaching assignment resulting in a reduction of credits (and hours) assigned to each instructor.
