Il permettra aux étudiants de comprendre la structure des familles telle qu’elle est vue à travers le droit. Nous verrons tout le potentiel ainsi que les lacunes de nos lois et institutions. Il permettra également aux étudiants d’acquérir les connaissances techniques sur des sujets tels que la conjugalité, la filiation, les ordonnances de temps parental, la pension alimentaire pour enfants et au conjoint, les étapes d’un divorce, le déménagement et les aspects civils de l’enlèvement d’enfants. De plus, nous examinerons les propositions de réforme, le contexte social, et nous nous efforcerons d’aborder les lois selon deux points de vue : (1) du point de vue du droit, afin de les appliquer de manière précise et créative telles qu’elles existent; et (2) d’un point de vue critique, où nous préserverons notre indignation face à des sujets tels que la violence entre partenaires intimes, le colonialisme, le racisme et la manière donc ceux-ci sont (involontairement?) renforcés (dans certaines?) procédures judiciaires. Enfin, étant donné que je suis une praticienne, nous aborderons les sujets de manière stratégique, avec des situations factuelles qui nous invitent à articuler comment nous pourrions atteindre les objectifs d’un client avec les outils à notre disposition.
