Hiring Unit: School of Physical and Occupational Therapy Course Title and Course Number: Physical Therapy Neurological Rehabilitation PHTH 551 Estimated Number of Positions: 3 Total Hours of Work per Term: 90 hours Dates: Week of Aug 25th, 2025, to final exam in December 2025. Date TBC. Labs are on Friday afternoons 1 – 4 pm. A 1 hr. lab prep session weekly at a time that is convenient for instructors and TAs. Likely on zoom. Job Description: Facilitate a group of about 15 students through practical skills labs and clinical reasoning workshops. Assist in the evaluation of students during the practical exam. Topics covered during the labs include: Movement analysis-pediatrics (one lab) outcome measures such as the BESTest balance test; Berg Balance Scale, gait speed, Timed Up & Go, 6 min walk. (three labs) sensory testing, PNF, evaluation of muscle tone (five labs) introduction to electrical stimulation parameters. (one lab) The clinical reasoning workshops use case histories to discuss charting – ICF, SOAPIE, motor development, neuromuscular conditions. Formative evaluator for a mock OSCE (three hours) and summative evaluator for OSCE (eight hours) Presence at optional open labs may be required. These are scheduled for Fridays 10:30 – 12:30 starting in late Sept/early Oct. Correcting of clinical reports (SOAPIER format) or assignments (falls interview) may be required. Salary: $37.34/hour Desired Major(s): Rehabilitation Science/Integrative neuroscience/ or related fields Desired Degree Level: Masters & Grad Dips & Certs Qualifications: Current Masters or Doctoral student at McGill. Be a physical therapist with knowledge of basic neurological assessment and treatment techniques; knowledge of commonly used outcome measures will be helpful.
