The Role POSITION: TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS MANAGER (DATA ARCHITECT) (NON-UNION) DIVISION: TECHNOLOGY AND ARCHITECTURE SERVICES MANAGER: DAPHNE MORRIS LOCATION: REGINA, SK ISM is seeking a Technical Solutions Manager (Data Architect) to work closely with our customers and Data & AI stakeholders to define plans, data models (both logical and physical) and platform architectures for the installation, operation, migration and management of analytic and business intelligence systems. The ideal candidate will be a results-oriented IT professional with strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills, coupled with proven interpersonal and communication skills. They must be an experienced Data Architect with a strong background in data management and architecture and proven ability to design and implement robust data solutions that support customer business goals. The Technical Solutions Manager (Data Architect) gathers and analyzes client data and reporting needs, translates these needs into requirements, design and architectures for specific data management and warehousing projects and services. They may lead or advise the teams which develop, operate and maintain the data systems. This includes working with client personnel and executives to identify functional and non-functional requirements and subsequently working with and leading others in the evaluation of options and the identification, justification, and design of the client's solution. The position is responsible for the overall solution related to quality, performance, availability, scalability and integrity, ensuring solution usability of data services. The Technical Solutions Manager (Data Architect) reports directly to the Manager, Delivery Architecture and interfaces with all affected stakeholders both internal and external to ISM in a matrix environment. NOTE: the preferred work location for this position is Regina, Saskatchewan; however, the work location will be dependent upon the location of the successful candidate. RESPONSIBILITIES: · Advise on the characteristics and considerations associated with data management and operations architectures · Architect and design data solutions, most typically data warehouse and modern data warehouse designs · Create and manage conceptual, logical, and physical data models to ensure a coherent and efficient data structure in alignment with customer and project requirements · Design and lead the implementation of data integration solutions that enable seamless data flow across various systems and platforms · Plan and estimate solution engagements · Work closely with business stakeholders, data analysts, and IT teams to understand data requirements and provide appropriate solutions. · Assess current data management practices and provide recommendations for improvement · Provide advisory services for data strategy and data governance including policies and standards to ensure data quality, consistency, and security · Collect details of client’s data and reporting needs and translate into logical and physical data architectures · Advise clients on data management platform technologies · Perform service level agreement negotiation and documentation · Provide quality assurance services on data projects to ensure that the quality of delivered solutions reflects what was proposed. · Provide thought leadership and project advisory services to clients on a billable basis. · Arrange for the delivery capability (people, skills, tools) to effectively deliver technical services to ISM customers as well as internally. · Work with other ISM divisions to leverage knowledge, tools, and training to optimize solution delivery, quality, and costs. · Provide organization skills and task guidance to the engagement, and for the project team members. · Regularly participate in technical solution/services planning and objective setting in both the customer and internal setting. · Regularly attend/run customer meetings reviewing technical requirements, solutions and issues relating to the delivery of both customer based and internal projects. · Participate in, and/or be responsible for the creation, harvesting, protection, and reuse of intellectual capital. · Participate actively in knowledge sharing activities like communities of practice, forums, conferences and/or other knowledge exchanges. · Lead demos, project workshops, requirements gathering sessions and other project delivery activities. · Work with and lead diverse teams across regions, with different skill sets, expertise and experience levels. · Apply and follow data architecture and project methodologies. · Stay updated with the latest data management technologies and tools, and recommend their adoption where appropriate. QUALIFICATIONS: · Post-secondary education in a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience · Certifications in Architecture and/or Data Architecture – Open Group Certified; TOGAF 9 or 10; DAMA; EDM Council · 7+ years of IT experience in various delivery roles including data engineering design, report development, data modelling, and data architecture · 3+ years working as a Data Architect/Data Modeler · Deep enterprise technical knowledge demonstrated by industry and product certifications or related experience in fields such as data modelling, data platform architecture design. Knowledge of supporting specialties such as enterprise application development, or cloud computing may be an asset. · Microsoft and/or AWS Architect certifications considered an asset · Knowledge of cloud data platform and applications implementation, D365 and Power platform applications implementation considered an asset · Strong communication skills: verbal, written and interpersonal · Strong problem-solving and analytical skills and ability to communicate complex ideas · Strong supervisory and organizational skills including the ability to plan tasks for an engagement or project · Proficiency in data modeling tools (e.g., ERwin, Visio). · Experience with database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, Oracle, MySQL). · Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark). · Knowledge of data integration tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend). · Understanding of data governance frameworks and best practices. · Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). Who You Are KEY SKILLS & ABILITIES: · Proven experience delivering services with increasing degree of responsibility and proven track record with the ability to execute according to plan · Proven experience designing data models for business intelligence and data warehousing including extensive knowledge of dimensional modelling and medallion models · Experience developing business relationships as well as managing and maintaining customer relationships · Demonstrated ability to engage and advise others on tools, technology, and methodology related to designing and implementing data driven solutions · Demonstrate the ability to recognize complex problems related to proposed solution or new solution development · Ability to determine customer requirements and service delivery options · Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools · Demonstrated ability to work closely and successfully with people in a team environment · Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, planning and organizational skills · Demonstrated ability to work in an independent fashion *Note: This role may involve working with technology that is covered by US and/or Canadian Embargo Export Regulations; therefore all applicants will be subject to additional security screening requirements.
