The Role Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director, Finance is a senior leadership role responsible for financial stewardship and operational excellence. This includes oversight of financial planning, accounting, reporting, assessment, taxation, treasury, and risk management. The Director leads a team of 14, including two managers. Key Responsibilities Lead strategic and long-range financial planning aligned with city priorities Oversee accounting, budgeting, forecasting, audit, and financial reporting Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and reporting standards (GAAP, PSAB, MGA) Manage treasury, grants, investments, and debt strategies Champion innovation, service improvement, and financial sustainability Build high-performing, collaborative teams and foster a strong service culture Candidate Profile CPA designation required; degree in business or public administration preferred 6–10+ years of senior financial leadership, ideally in municipal government Strong experience with strategic planning, budgeting, reporting, and audits Proven team leadership, political acumen, and effective communication skills Key Competencies Strategic and operational leadership Solutions-oriented and pragmatic decision-making Innovation and continuous improvement mindset Political astuteness and relationship management Strong service orientation and financial integrity Compensation A competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package will be offered.
