Position Description The McGill University Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time position as a member of the Contract Academic Staff at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (Clinical). The professorial rank will be determined according to the candidate’s qualifications and experience. This will be a three-year (renewable) appointment and does not confer eligibility for tenure. The successful candidate will be appointed to clinical practice at the Montreal Neurological Hospital (the Neuro), within the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). The MUHC is a major teaching hospital affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Canada’s internationally renowned McGill University, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec. The Neuro (Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital) is a bilingual academic healthcare institution—a McGill research and teaching institute delivering high-quality patient care—as part of the Neuroscience Mission of the McGill University Health Centre. Job Duties The successful candidate will be involved in the academic activities of the McGill University Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The successful candidate will also be expected to be actively involved in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (i.e., teaching, research, supervision of students and residents, and involvement in academic and administrative committees). They will provide excellent clinical teaching and supervision to diverse residents and medical students. Protected research time and laboratory resources within The Neuro will be available to candidates with exceptional research potential. Qualifications and Education Requirements Candidates must: Hold a medical degree and must hold, or be eligible for, licensure as a neurologist in the province of Quebec; Have advanced training and a demonstrated capacity to excel in academic neurology; Have experience in the care of stroke and/or epilepsy, and/or neuroimmunology; Possess relevant medical education skills and the potential for developing new clinical research and/or clinical innovation programs; Demonstrate a strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in all areas; Clinicians with research expertise and/or clinician-educators are encouraged to apply; Bilingual language skills (French and English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire the necessary language skills to practice medicine in Quebec.
