Hiring Unit: Microbiology and Immunology Course Title and Course Number: Fundamental Virology: MIMM 324 Estimated Number of Positions: 1 Total Hours of Work per Term: 120 hours Position Summary: TA to be present at the lectures frequently enough to allow the students and instructors to know him/her. TA will assist the instructors to upload their lectures onto myCourses and set up their laptops before the class, if requested. TA will assist in writing and setting up quizzes and assignments and will answer questions from students in person or via e-mail. In the event of difficult questions, seek help from the coordinator or the instructors. Post the frequently asked questions and the answers on myCourses. Visit the students' discussion group in myCourses regularly to provide help or guidance when necessary. Drafting example assignments and grading assignments. Give at least 2 pre-exam tutorial/discussion sessions (for the mid-term and final exams). Assist the setup and adjudication of mid-term exams and exam viewings. Be present at the final exam in case of problems and questions from the students. Meet with the coordinator periodically to discuss the TA work. Grading of assignments, midterm and final exams (as well as aiding in training and feedback for graders). Qualifications: A Teaching Assistant is a Graduate Student at the Master’s or Doctoral level, at McGill University, employed to assist a course Supervisor. Strong knowledge of Fundamental virology, experience with MIMM324 (or equivalent). Language Requirements: Effective communication skills in English are essential.
