Closing Date: June 29, 2025 INVESTMENT STRATEGY & RISK BCI is seeking a Senior Analyst to join the Strategic Asset Allocation team. This role is suited for someone with strong analytical and communication skills, sound judgment, and an interest in developing a long-term perspective on investment strategy. THE OPPORTUNITY Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Asset Allocation, this position supports clients on a range of investment-related topics, with a focus on strategic asset allocation. The role involves close collaboration with teams across investment strategy, risk, and asset classes to deliver Asset-Liability Management (ALM) studies and related analyses. Success requires a deep understanding of each client’s investment objectives, liability structure, maturity profile, actuarial assumptions, and constraints. Additional responsibilities include producing regular monitoring and reporting, supporting annual investment planning, and contributing to cross-functional initiatives. THE TEAM The Investment Strategy & Risk (ISR) department is responsible for setting, implementing, and monitoring the long-term investment strategies of BCI’s clients. Working closely with clients, senior leadership, and asset class teams, ISR defines the strategic direction needed to meet client objectives and ensures the supporting investment structures and processes are in place. The department is organized into four specialized teams: Strategic Asset Allocation, Total Fund Management, Investment Risk, and Growth & Investment Solutions. The Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) team develops customized investment policies that reflect each client’s objectives, funding approach, and risk tolerance. The team also conducts macroeconomic research and modeling, including analysis of business cycle dynamics and emerging economic or financial trends—at both the asset class and total fund levels. WHAT YOU BRING An undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related discipline 2–3 years of direct experience in investment consulting, portfolio management, or in a similar capacity in the actuarial or financial industries Strong quantitative and financial modeling skills Conceptual thinker with strong problem-solving abilities Broad knowledge of capital markets and familiarity with all asset classes, including alternative and private market assets Ability to synthesize large amounts of information into actionable conclusions and communicate it to others in a clear, concise, and accurate manner Ability to work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment, with shifting priorities and tight deadlines Ability to work collaboratively across teams to build credibility and strong relationships Preferred: Master’s degree, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (ASA/FSA), or a similar designation PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Develops ALM studies, strategic asset allocation, and investment policy recommendations for a variety of clients (e.g., pension, insurance, benefit, endowment/foundation) Regularly monitors and reports on clients’ investment strategies Increases the efficiency of existing work processes Assists with investment planning to ensure alignment between client strategies and BCI’s total fund Assists in managing BCI’s product shelf to ensure a client-focused rationale for the structure of programs and pooled funds Assists with monitoring client portfolios and recommends asset mix adjustments across multiple client accounts Supports the development of comprehensive responses to information requests and formal Requests for Proposals (RFPs) related to BCI’s growth initiatives WHERE YOU WILL WORK Work from our downtown Victoria office. SALARY RANGE BCI offers a competitive total rewards package which includes a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan and paid time off. The annualized base salary range for this Victoria-based role is CAD $90,000 to $109,000. The base salary offered to the successful candidate will consider a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill set, level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered and consideration to internal equity.
