Location: Markham, Ontario Job Description: Job Summary: The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team helps to drive overall business performance by challenging and supporting critical decision making through the delivery of insightful analysis, action-oriented reporting and the design and management of planning and forecasting processes that meet both Corporate and Operational requirements. We ensure maximum impact through clear messaging, presentation, effective business partnering with senior management stakeholders and focused communication of group strategic and financial goals. This will be an individual contributor role, capable of self-motivating their work; challenging and discerning how and what work gets done and is able to build relationships and hold accountabilities at senior levels within the organization and with themselves. Essential Duties and Responsibilities In this role you will be responsible for the following: Partnering with Senior Manager, FP&A to identify trends, seek opportunities and provide solutions through analysis and discussion to drive sales results Responsible for required Weekly/Monthly Reporting to the Pet Valu Canada Corporate Store & Franchise Store Groups Analyzes and provides explanations on sales, labour, margin and financial performance variances versus plan/forecast/prior year and analyzes sales/labour/margin in various views Performs analysis to identify operational issues or areas for improvement by researching, analyzing, and integrating operations information and data Assists in the preparation of the monthly Business Review presentation and decks Assists in formulating and validating assumptions in the budget and forecast models Responsible for calculating the monthly/quarterly store and district manager bonuses Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs Provides and supports the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships Identify business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results Recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities Experience, Education, Certifications The ideal candidate will be a self-driven and highly motivated individual. Someone who displays precision, attention to detail, and proficiency with systems and technology. The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, performing multiple tasks / projects within defined deadlines. Bachelor’s degree required in Finance, Economics or Business CPA or CFA Professional designation or working towards, a plus 2 to 3 years of financial planning and analysis experience in a retail or wholesale environment Excellent working knowledge of tools such as Excel (Power suite) and data manipulation to efficiently conduct reporting requirements.
